We're not currently down, but if you're having trouble connecting, I'd recommend running a tracert. This test will track each point along the route and report back any issues.
Here's how to run a tracert: http://triongam.es/1wzvPfK

If you're unable to connect, sometimes it is an issue of being blocked by your security software. Manually selecting to run Defiance as the administrator can help in these cases. We have instructions for how to do that and how to perform some additional troubleshooting steps available here: http://triongam.es/1yHNHwo

This means your connection is being blocked. Usually, that's caused by firewalls, routers, or other security software. I would recommend making sure that Defiance is added as an exception to your current security software, but I'd also recommend opening the following ports:

TCP 80
TCP 443
TCP 50000
TCP 65000
UDP 40000-41000

For information on how to forward ports, please pick your router brand here:

That's good - have you opened up those ports as well and have you tried running as the administrator?

That depends on what kind of router you have. You should be able to check the brand on the router, may need to check the bottom though.

Instructions for some popular brands are available here:

When we deploy patches, it's typically on Tuesdays. We've only been down for a little over 2 hours, though.
