Tips for newcomers
What little tips can you share, that don't give away game elements themselves (so "go to X for Y plant" doesn't count)? What advice do you have to someone new to the game? Please don't post spoilers, even mild ones.

I'll start.

- If you're out of control, running down a hill, try slowing yourself down by turning to one side or the other until you're running up another slope. On a long slope, you can even turn 180 degrees back up the slope you're on. Or, just hold down the S key to slow you quickly to a stop.

- Remember that the Bunsen burners[en.wikipedia.org] you sometimes see in laboratories act as lights and save the game.

- Don't forget that you sometimes need to crouch to pick things up

Yours?

Thank you everyone for the tips! I'm only a couple of hours in and taking it slow, I believe games like Miasmata always have that "magical first play" and I don't want to rush it.

The slipping/sliding mechanic was rather easy to work out how to compensate for (being a gamer of many different genres for many years) , but almost all of the other tips and tricks listed here are very useful to me, without spoiling anything important. Much thanks!

I don't know if anyone posted these tips but here they are. When descending a hill use the S key to slow your descent. When trying to climb a hill look down at the ground while you walk and you will be able to climb it.
