Something that has been on my todo list for years is to figure out a way to have non axis aligned materials. Sometimes you want the materials to follow the direction of a slope blocks. I think I finally found a way with the new beam tool. Check out the video:

Highlights in this update:

• Slope tool
  The tool to replace all slope block tools. It doesn't cover all the cases (like double convex/concave slopes) yet but it works good enough for you to try it out. I built the pirate ship in the picture above using only the slope tool and the beam tool for all slopes.
  
• Beam tool
  Similar to the the Slope tool but it doesn't fill space.
  
• Eye dropper ([ALT] + [RMB])
  Material replace tool + eye dropper now selects material only
  Paint tool + eye dropper now selects paint color only
  Material cover tool + eye dropper now selects material only.
  Fixed material set by eye dropper tool sometimes shows wrong material.
  Eye dropper tool will now work on both blocks and smooth materials. If used on smooth materials mblock will be selected as tool.
  
• Adaptive modular building parts
  Fixed adaptive modular building parts (auto roofs) update when deleting neighbor parts
  Fixed material selection of many modular building parts
  Fixed placement position of wall modular building parts.
  
• Other
  Fixed placement position of doors.

Hi,

I know that many of you struggle trying to figure out all the block types available in Blockscape. Especially all the slope block types can be a pain to get right. I have been working on a new tool for a very long time that will hopefully solve this. It is an early prototype but I think you get the idea.

  Increased the speed of copter rotors
  Removed some inventory items that should not be availble for placement.
  Bugs will now drop a bug when killed.
  Butterflies will now drop a butterfly when killed.

  Improved intensity of fire in world and in inventory.
  Better inventory lighting when world has dense fog.

• Visual improvements
  Improved smoke and debris/water spalsh rendering. It now looks like it has a bit more volume.
  More fixes and improvements to water reflections.
  Lowered the bloom threshold a tiny bit.
  New hay texture maps.
  
  
• Gameplay logic
  Added "You are starving!" warning when you are starving.
  Changed so that you don't heal if you are starving.
  Changed so that hunger goes up even when you are sleeping but only at half rate.
  Changed so that it takes 12 game hours to fully heal when sleeping. Equals 12 real seconds of sleep.
  Changed so that sleeping uses less food to regenerate health compared to when the player is awake.
  Player will now automatically wake up at 07:00 if sleep is not aborted earlier.
  
  
• New block types
  Quarter half cylinder.
  
  
• Vehicles
  Fixed copter light position.
  Updated copter rotors and landing skids with the new quarter half cylinder block type.
  Smoother spotlight shape from vehicle lights.
  Fixed drill light position.
  Fixed drill parts (like wheels) randomly destroyed by drill (only a visual thing).
  
  
• Bug fixes
  Fixed Add/delete single plant random crash.
  Fixed charcoal material transition from bark.

Highlights in this update:

• New sleeping logic
  First you need a bed (same as before). You can't sleep if you have unprotected items. Sleeping will now progress time. One second of sleep equals one hour of game time. Sleeping will show a small animation of the sun and moon to give you an idea of how long you slept and what time of day it is. Health regeneration is faster when you sleep and is now much slower when you are awake. Check it out and tell me what you think.
  
• Random big hole in terrain finally fixed
  This was a tricky one to fix. To keep the memory usage down I do real time mesh optimization in the background on as many cores that is available in the machine. The error happened because of a rare sync error between all the threads.
  
• Fixed many water reflection errors

Hi!

I hope you are having fun playing the new and much improved 2024 version. Here is update 2 with a few but important changes:

• Fixed large scale ambient occlusion in closed/indoor environments. It was a bit too dark in the previous version.
  
• Fixed disconnected chunks not saved/loaded correctly. This was the bug that caused trees to reappear after a savegame was loaded.
  
• Added a "show log file from previous session" button to the startup/login dialog. I'm hoping this will make it easier for you to help me track down errors. So if the game crash you could just start it again and press the button. Please paste the content in the forum.
  
• Fixed missing debris particles when destroying terrain.

Hi,

The new version is finally out!

• New "Realistic" world
  Available both in Just build and Survival game modes. It generates natural mountains, valleys, lakes and rivers. The old world is now called "Wild".
  
• Better looking
  All materials have been updated to look more realistic. The rendering pipeline has been rewritten to support fully physically based materials. Triplanar mapping for smooth texturing of terrain. Realistic specular lighting. HDR render targets with auto-exposure. Better transparency sorting. New leaves, plants and grass.
  
• New tree models
  Almost all tree have been updated with more organic and better looking models.
  
• New Protector attack
  Shoots fireballs from eyes if player is close.
  
• Water filled caves
  Will probably need to add craftable diving gear.
  
• Material sensitive edits
  Blockscape will now track hardness of materials when you add or remove terrain. Adding a soft material like leaves next to rock will leave the rock voxels intact and removing grass next to a tree root will leave the root voxels intact.
