Good atmosphere, shame about the tedious and clunky gameplay. Also crashes, even with the patch.

Probably the best overall rendition of Lovecraftian Horror in video game form. The story is fairly engaging, the combat and mechanics are decent, its hard as nails, and a good amount of scary.

With all that said, the game has issues. The biggest problem is the bugs. There is an unofficial patch to fix them, but without it, you will be guaranteed to run into so many of them. You will probably still run into a lot of them with it regardless. Also, the pacing is a bit messy. The first half is the real standout, and the rest is still great, but a bit more jumbled.

overall: Well worth if for Lovecraft fans looking for a challenge and not minding some buggy features.
