A new update to Dead Pixels is making its way across the internet to everyone.

The big changes are

Moving to new frameworks (FNA and Facepunch.Steamworks).
Native Linux build for Steamdeck and linux computers.
Launcher removed with options instead in game.
New look to in game menus (Can be turned off in the options).
A few small bug fixes but most of the game is the way it always has been.
Custom game mode added

New Menus

The custom game mode has a variety of new option for those that want a challenge or a more relaxed but long game.

Steam Deck

A lot of the changes have an effect on the SteamDeck. I've requested a review and hoping to get the game marked as SteamDeck Verified soon.

The Old XNA Version
There are some small things that have been lost in this change like windows XP support and some control pad support has been removed/changed.
I have moved the old version to a beta branch, so people can still access it if they want.

For those that didn't see Dead Pixels has a new demo on Steam. This one has the daily mode available so every day you can try a random run and compete to see who is the quickest at making it through.

Dead Pixels 1's future
If any new bugs appear in the new build I will do my best to get them sorted ASAP.
There are no plans to add more features just now, but I may return to it one day.

Steam Deck user reporting in (crash on startup)

Hello. I have a 512gb LCD Deck. I keep it updated both in Steam and in the OS. I also use the "Stable" System Update Channel, if that even matters. I updated Dead Pixel with the 1.4 patch, booted it right away and it crashed. I was in gaming mode so I didn't get the Error.txt popup. Then within the Gaming Mode, I tried different Compatibility branches. Proton Ex, Proton Hotfix and Proton 9.0-4 will make the game run, but it's running at "1fps" and I can barely navigate menus. Utterly boring.
I've only played 17 minutes in total and every second is a grind. The combat is slow and awful. The coins you can collect disappear in seconds, necessitating the need to run into enemies. There are copious amounts of places to search which end up tedious. You have to refill you ammo constantly.
It feels like a troll game. Surely there must be more to it but I don't have the patience to find out.
There's nothing about this game I can recommend. The graphics are beyond simple. Maybe the music.

Failing to launch the game #Dead Pixles

Keep getting errors, this should not be happening on a fresh new installation on PC, Bought it recently and installed it for first time and then launched and keep getting folder missing errors and then file missing errors!!! PS: I have created the folder structure manually on my PC and then getting below error, I cannot add content to xml file it should be done by the game automatically!!!! Bugged unlockable?

So to get the "Fast Zombies" unlockable I have to beat the "Solution" mode, I got the achievement for doing so ages ago yet it is not unlocked at all, and doing another run did not unlock it, any help? Or did the unlock requirements change?
