Yes, Ubisoft is trash.
Yes, their launcher is garbage.
Yes, their online services are horrible.
Yes, they use Denuvo, which is very annoying.
Yes, the fact that they came crawling back to Steam is pathetic.
Yes, practices where single-player games bombard you with pop-ups about store pages is scummy.


But that's just Ubisoft. As for the game itself, it's overall a fun and funny examination of Greek mythology which interestingly enough had the courage of exploring the more uglier aspects of its gods and focuses a lot on their flaws and defects. Oh yeah, and all of this is done via an old-school Iron Age family therapy-type thing, which I very much enjoyed.


8/10 - Who said we can't have "Breath of the Wild" at home?

This feels like a really polished breath of the wild clone with much more vibrant colours and a greek god setting. It does have the usual Ubisoft open world game problem where there's a lot of objectives that populate the area but the core gameplay loop is fun enough that if you like the game you'll happily complete all of it. The puzzles can get tedious in the middle section of the game but there's some great ones that require out of the box thinking which compensate for that grind. All in all this game does everything good 7/10, everything great if you're looking for a breath of the wild clone, and feels like the base of something that could become a 10/10 in its sequels. If this is on sale its 100% a must buy. At full price of £50 (Base game + dlc) its a decent purchase.

There are microtransactions in the game if you want to speed up progression and/or cosmetic armour but its a single player game so the progression skip doesnt really help you much.

Something like Assassins Creed with some Greek Mythos within. Not great but not bad.

Fun game. The game play is like Zelda-Breath of the Wild. Potion making, weapon upgrades. Your able to glide, climb and tame and ride a horse. Good story and great Greek mythology bad guys.

This game makes me sad...

I love the idea of an open world game based on the Greek myths and the story really does deliver. The story is comedic and all of the gods are sarcastic, sassy, and witty. I enjoyed every bit of the story that I managed to see and I actually became interested in learning more about Greek Mythology. The portrayal of Zeus is phenomenal.

But this is a game. And gameplay matters. You'll be doing two things in this game: Fighting enemies and solving puzzles. At first it's fun. Running, jumping, riding, and gliding around the map; quickly defeating a cyclops then climbing a hill to collect a thing. But then, after multiple hours, you get to the next area.....to discover.....it's ALL THE SAME. Literally, it is a copy and paste of the same gameplay (and game assets) over and over. And while I have played many repetitive games in the past, I realized what puts me off about this gameplay loop is that there is no satisfying elements. The combat is fluid but boring with really no satisfying finishers or "cool moves." The puzzles are literally the same concepts shuffled around with little challenge. They are just a massive timesink and the rewards for completing them just leave you bitter (yay, all that work for one of the eight things I need to collect....to get one extra bar of stamina). I have never played a game that felt so much like homework.

If you ignore the endless map markers and focus completely on the story you know what you end up with? Even more repetitive puzzles! Some of which are the longest in the game!

This is a great example of how Ubisoft can ruin a game idea. What should have been a fun 10-30 hour game is stretched out into a massive never ending repetitive loop where quantity is prioritized over quality. They most likely did this because the more time you spend in it, the more you may be tempted to spend money on paid cosmetics (for your single player game!)

I want to like this game, and I do love the story. But I cannot bring myself to continuously push the EXACT SAME box ontop of the EXACT SAME pressure plate in order to push the EXACT SAME button so that I can shoot an arrow through the EXACT SAME hoop to activate the EXACT SAME brazier. If that sounds fun to you go ahead and try it out. Otherwise I do not recommend this game.
