Is there any way to send more than a single item up the well?
Gets annoying getting new drops and having to choose. Or consequently, having to leave bottles behind for new gear.

The only way I know is starting with bottles, as they do not exhaust the well. Sometimes I can send up 2 bottles and 1 other item during one run, this is not very often so I feel lucky when I can do it.

Oh my god. I have been foregoing sending bottles up because I assumed this entire time they counted as the 1 thing you can send up and would rather get new gear.
I must have missed the part where they explain that mechanic, I have missed out on SO MANY BOTTLES!
If you use the well, then there is a small chance that champions (yellow highlight) enemies can drop a bucket to refresh the well. This can only happen once per run though and the chance is v. small.

Also bottles should not count towards retrieval, they are reclaimed automatically from your inventory at the end of the run.

There is no other way. Gathering gear is a slow process. Try prioritise bringing one piece of new gear back per run, even if it would be a bad piece of gear for that run. Items you don't have yet, have a +500% chance of appearing in chests. So collecting any increase your chances of getting the rest.

O, they do? Well, that is very convenient. Funny that after 100 hours of playtime I am still learning new things about the game.
This is antiquated game design. Only purpose is to frustrate and make you grind the game. Nope.

Heh, I was here playing this when Bottles DID actually count for the Well(I remember rushing to one of the scrolls because it was guarded by a miniboss that dropped a Bottle Chest when killed, each of these runs took 3-5 minutes). I was here before they added bottles that allowed you to reroll chests, allowing you to get new items easier.

How else will Chasing Carrots pad the game time while they work on updates?

Yeah, me to, I remember all this. Early days were tough. I came back to HoT after not playing it for about half a year, resetted my progress to start from 0, and to my surprise I see that I can send bottles up which does not exhaust the well. Then I learn from Tazzamorous that I don't even have to be doing this as they will be reclaimed automatically at the end of the run.

So it seems things with extracting items are going definitely in the right direction.
I didn't know any of this. Thought on the later levels (4 and 5) you could send 2 instead of the normal 1. Cryptic but this game has an old school feel and is still being worked on. Thank you community.
