Rivals of Aether II

Is there a texture or graphics bug in the game?
I've been having this issue of textures or graphics not loading properly and making the game look like sludge despite having my settings to where it shouldn't look like this. Is this a bug? I've heard it could be due to a memory leakage? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and also verifying the integrity of the files and it hasn't helped. Does anyone know how to fix this or is this something the devs are going to have to release a patch to fix?

have this same thing and made a thread about it yesterday. Before most recent patch, setting my post-processing effects to disabled would help for a while but it would eventually revert to sludge

Yes people have had this problem on and off for a month or so. My textures are bad constantly now too. Very annoying.
I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to stay on Unreal Engine 4 instead of switching to Unreal Engine 5, since I've never experienced such a problem in games made in UE4. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

The developers opened up a Google Doc form a couple days ago for troubleshooting this issue. There's a thread on the Discord support forum with like 300+ messages in it at this point.

probably, Unreal Engine 5 is kind of known at this point to be unstable and unoptimized compared to UE4. which is saying a lot because UE4 was already a joke of a game engine and easily the worst on the market.

Has this cleared up for anyone else?
I've played a bunch of hours since the last update and the textures haven't dropped once aside from the seconds it takes to load them in when a match starts. Finally I can get invested in it for reals.

From their Discord:

@here Sorry for the ping!

Just as a FYI - The last patch introduced one of the performance tweaks mentioned previously, which assists in diminishing VRAM usage.

This was done by compressing some UI assets, and if anyone would like to also test playing without the no texture streaming option to see, we would be super grateful!

Coming up, we will have another pass on UI unload/loading that will assist even more with freeing that VRAM allocation for users on minimum requirements and further, even below it (hopefully)

The reason why this wasn't communicated earlier is because I was waiting for a confirmation it was implemented for this current patch.

It's not complete, but they've actively worked on it to fix it at least a great deal for this update.
