… that the haikus in the Japanese dub don’t stick to the correct number of syllables?

Likely just translating the English words selected by the player verbatim. Otherwise would have to explain to the player that the English will not conform to haiku syllable standards but the dub will, that’s a lot of content to be generated for a small audience subset. The “cost-benefit ratio” was poor, I guess.

I imagine it was kind of a bummer for the voice actor “wait you’re not gonna do an actual Japanese haiku in the haiku’s original language?” But he was excellent in the scenes anyway.
