BSOD SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED with latest Nvidia drivers
As title says, I had a BSOD during gameplay (actually the 2nd one in 5 days). The first one happened while talking to Ishikawa after freeing Lord Shimura (secondary objective), the 2nd one when returning to title screen to load a previous manual save.
After the 2nd BSOD I have reinstalled the latest drivers (556.12) after cleaning with DDU.
GPU: ROG RTX 4090
OS: Windows 10 latest

If necessary I can provide the .dmp file as well
Bug check code: 0x1000007e
Caused by address: nvlddmkm.sys+1569c20 (nvlddmkm are installed Nvidia drivers)
Crash address: nvlddmkm.sys+15657f5
Bug check code and caused by address are the same in both BSOD events

I am also having this same issue recently.

Drivers: 556.12
Windows 10
RTX 4080

Same blue screen error. I can't even remember the last time I saw an actual BSOD. Hopefully we just have to wait for an nVidia driver update.

I noticed in both cases it happens when the screen goes black (which happens when talking to someone or loading a previous save).
Anyway, I opened a ticket to Nixxes altough my DxDiag (it was requested) is post DDU cleanup so it might not help. Well, if that happens again, I'll send a new diag file and probably do a driver rollback.

My name is Manuel and I work for NVIDIA. I would like to look into this. If you rolled back your driver, can you update to GRD 556.12 again and then configure your PC to allow you to capture a complete memory dmp file from a Windows BSOD as described in the FAQ below. If the game bugchecks again, on reboot, look for the dmp file generated and email it to me at driverfeedback@nvidia.com along with basic description of where the game BSODs (while gaming/launching the game/etc.). Also include the model of your GPU and list any NVIDIA technologies you are using with the game (eg. DLSS, Instant Replay, Performance overlay stats, etc.).

Done.
If the issue shows up again I'll email you all infos.
I've had a blue screen 4 times already in 40 hours. Driver 555.99
It's definitely not the game. I'm running nvidia 556.12 and have tried various other versions and call of duty is the game causing my bsod with event id 153. this was the only recent thread I could find. I've even gone as far as swapping my cpu and ram as well as a complete wipe of my pc.
Blue screens are not the fault of a video game ... like ever.
SHMIZZLE 11 Jul @ 3:43pm
Is it the classic BSOD or is it the blue screen that says something like "Windows has crashed"? because I had twice the latter happen and both times all my save files got corrupt

I don't think it's the driver. I believe it's the latest patch that came through a few hours ago.

i would agree if it didn't happen twice, within few days, with this game only and triggered by the same thing: when the screen goes black either because you talk to someone or reload a previous save.
It's more like a combination of both drivers and the game, at least for me.
And, please don't escalate this.
We're trying to fix an issue, not to degenerate in the usual forum toxicity.
Full reverse.
If you don't have this issue, just move forward.

I don't care how often it happened or what you were doing. It's not the game. It's a hardware. driver or OS issue. Full stop.
the same problem was once with Forza 4, but there was just a crash on the desktop, they couldn't fix it for a whole year

"same problem"? BSOD and CTD are two different things.
