Random Crashes... since Nvidia update to driver 556.12 daily
This game seems to have reverted back to the types of crashes at launch. Since the new NVIDIA driver update of 556.12, it appears these issues are back with a vengeance, even causing a 1st ever blue-screen of death. I've never had a blue-screen with any game or software or anything, full stop; except with this game yesterday 7/5/2024. The game just froze again several minutes ago 7/6/2024.

I have an extremely powerful PC because of the 2D/3D graphic software I run. No game is harsher than my software.

These issues seem to still be linked to frame rates, particularly 4K OLED monitors that can run 95hz thru 160hz. I even went back and capped my screen rates to 90 via the game settings vs the 160 I can run with everything else; again, game, software, etc, and I'm getting crashes, frozen screens and blue-screen crashes?!?

FIX THIS GAME ALREADY, OR REFUND US ALL!

Although it's not our responsibility to take care of this, it's probably best to contact nixxes about this: https://nixxessoftware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/18674183874077-I-want-to-contact-support

I rolled back to previous version of nvidia graphics driver (555.99) and now the game is launching and running fine!!

So you are blaming the game instead of your new Nvidia drivers?

I'm using a 4070 and the game constantly had performance issues since launch, no matter what driver version i used, so it's likely a problem with the port. It seems to have some kind of memory leak.

The latest patches seem to have made this worse from my personal experience and from what i read here on steam.

There is no need to shield the devs from valid criticism, while it's a pretty good port when it works, it definitely needs some more fixing.

Me too. Idk your error code for BSOD but I've had 2 events in 5 days (last yesterday).

Not defending anyone. I'm on 556.12 and have zero crashes.

Don't know his CPU, but maybe he is using a 13th or 14th gen?

Since I updated to the newest 556.12 nvidia driver never got further then the load game menu, always hard crashes (lots of noise, no possibility to get back to windows) after selecting a game save.
After 4 times crashing hard I removed GeForce Experience +556.12 and installed prevous driver 555.99 again and the game works fine....

when there is GPU driver issue for AMD, ppl will go in n bash that AMD gpu sucked and shoud change GPU..
When there is driver issue for NVIDIA, ppl blame the game.
Great mindset!

A new driver causing an old game to crash is the fault of the driver not the game. Roll back to a previous version

And in the future don't upgrade your GPU driver unless you have a reason such as a new game that needs Game Ready Drivers or a bug in a game that got fixed. I'm still on the 552.44 Tsushima Game Ready drivers because there is no good reason for me to upgrade and I likely won't upgrade again until Star Wars Outlaws releases late next month

If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it, if a driver is working fine there is no reason to upgrade it and lots of reasons not to like it breaking one of your games

I had zero issues with this driver update. The game is working flawless as before.

My name is Manuel and I work for NVIDIA. If you are able to capture a complete Windows crash memory dmp file and share it with us, we can look into it. The following FAQs explain how to configure your PC to allow you to capture complete memory dmp files:

For app crashes (Ghost of Tsushima crash to desktop):
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3335

For bugcheck/BSOD (PC crashes and reboots/blue screen of death):
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4842

If you are able to capture a complete crash dmp file, please email it to us at driverfeedback@nvidia.com. Thank you.

Please add me. A lot of people in other games have problems already. (Once Human, The First Descendant). Some guy made in First Descendant dump logs and he told community about nvidia driver problem.

I will quote him:

"After multiple checks and repairs, I think I found the problem.
During the TFD gameplay for around 10-30 minutes my computer will freeze up and audio as well then goes into black screen or BSOD, using WinDgb to identify the problem from minidump created from BSOD.

Here's the analysed debug result:

SYMBOL_NAME: nvlddmkm+fe2aa

MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkm

IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys

STACK_COMMAND: .cxr; .ecxr ; kb

BUCKET_ID_FUNC_OFFSET: fe2aa

FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: 0x133_ISR_nvlddmkm!unknown_function (freezing issue)

All of this points back to my Nvidia GPU, from my POV the hardware is fine. So the issue is the latest Nvidia Driver Version (556.12) Release Date: Thu Jun 27, 2024.

So for any of you that installed the latest driver version and experienced freezing issue, I recommend to revert back previous version or do a clean-install graphic driver. It's recommended to do clean-install because of the old version driver might left some corrupted files behind and messed it up.

I did a clean-install gpu drive for my computer and installed:
Driver Version: 555.85 - Release Date: Tue May 21, 2024

since then I have played 8 hours straight with no issue, hopefully Nvidia fix it.
Heres some guide to use DDU to clean-install your GPU driver and best of luck Descendant!"
I'm on driver version 537.42 (4070). I get a warning about updating it when I launch the game, but the game runs perfectly fine on this driver. Haven't had a single crash in almost 180 hours of play.
