Steam for Linux

Game starts on integrated AMD GPU instead of dedicated AMD (Linux+Proton+AMD)
I have a Linux Laptop with AMD CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 4600H) and AMD GPU (AMD Radeon™ RX5500M). I am not able to force SpaceEngine to run on a dedicated AMD GPU, it always launches on integrated no matter what I do. I try doing DRI_PRIME=1, using the start menu shortcut with PrefersNonDefaultGPU=true, nothing works, SpaceEngine always launches with the integrated GPU. I am able to run other Windows games on Steam through Proton using the dedicated GPU by tinkering with those settings, but not SpaceEngine? :informationsuperhighway:
I can run the game and play it, but obviously using a dedicated GPU for that would be much better, smoother, faster. :xboson: is there something I could do to force it to launch using and play on a GPU?

If you don't have a reason to use both cards, you could disable the integrated GPU in BIOS?

yes! on intel igpu + nvidia dgpu setups this is also the path of least pain... and most bios setup menus do have such an option... and the energy savings from using the igpu for idle and display are minimal so no big loss there... and the cpu can use the extra thermal budget freed by not using the igpu, so this may help cpu perf as well

a while back i had an old intel+nvidia laptop that could cook an egg on my legs if i didn't do exactly this
