Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Steam version and EA version of the same game on the same EA account, will they conflict?
I'm considering repurchasing a few of my EA titles through Steam, as I use a Steam controller and the available Linux drivers for standalone Steam controller support don't work as well as the Steam client itself.

Since we do not have the ability to delete games from our EA account, or even to hide them, I was wondering if having both the native EA version and the Steam version of the same games on the same EA account will cause any kind of a conflict. Does anyone have firsthand experience with this?

I already asked this on EA's support forum, no answer after 5 days and I want to take advantage of the Steam summer sale prices.

You could try adding the EA app as a non-steam game

Nope, everything works perfectly, Battlefield Hardline ♥♥♥♥♥ up in weird ways when you had an expired Origin Access version along the Steam version but thats the only game i had issues with, everything else works, your saves and achievements sync and you continue from where you left off.
If you don't care about syncing and have never linked your account you could also just make a new account to link to Steam so you have two copies of the games which can be useful in some cases, rebuying on the same account just gives you duplicates in Origin, you can still separately install and play both but obviously only one session at a time.
Thanks for confirming no conflicts with non MP games.

MP games work too, all of them, only BF Hardline doesn't work properly without lots of messing around if you played it previously with an expired Origin subscription and then buy it on Steam, if you never played it or have it bought on Origin it should be fine from what I heard.

mine conflicts and created new user name same games and lost all my origin progress
all 7 seem to be working as expected and now I can make proper mouse/keyboard controller configs for the games that don't have native controller support.
