Can't add a mounted drive to Steam
When I select the drive which has been mounted (NTFS3), the box just goes away and nothing happens. Arch. How can I add the drive?

Using Ubuntu and adding a new drive yesterday, it didn't work at first, did the same thing you're describing. It did work at the second or third attempt. I think i may have restarted Steam between attempts.

Restarted Steam with no luck. I click the drive (mounted to "/mnt/Steam"), click "OK", and the box goes away and Steam keeps "New Drive" selected at the top.

Via the .deb on the homepage I believe

I could, I'll try reinstalling with that and update here
Reinstall did not fix, I see that person deleted all of their posts but I'll still leave that here for anybody else browsing
the linux steam client and ntfs don't play nice together. is this a drive shared with windows? if not, it's best to use ext4. if it is, then check the workarounds to make sure the ntfs is setup properly. the following is linked from the arch wiki's steam section: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Using-a-NTFS-disk-with-Linux-and-Windows
Ubuntu and Debian have this problem. I faced it on both. Go to disks. Choose the drive. There will probably be an icon for settings or something (it has been a while). Once you reach the relevant screen, uncheck the 'use default' or similar option (I forgot what it is called) and manually select the same options as default.

It will be fixed permanently.

My experience was that you have to reformat the drive to ext4.

I tried 100 solutions for getting NTFS to work with no success, worked first try after reformat to ext4

Yeah this is true unfortunately for anybody here in the future. Works fine and I just redownloaded my games.
