You might have already seen Die in the Dungeon popping up with some content creators! Their early feedback has helped us refine the game, smoothing out rough edges in preparation for launch.

That’s right, we’re racing full speed toward Early Access on February 21! It’s hard to believe it’s finally happening, but here we are.

Now’s the perfect time to break down what you can expect at launch, what’s coming in the first few months, and a little something special for those who want to support us!

The game is content-complete based on our original vision, meaning all planned areas, characters, dice, events, relics, and unlockables are already in place. But we still have plenty of ideas on how to make the game even better!

At this stage, we believe listening to the community should be our top priority, just as we did throughout all previous versions (Classic, Origins, and the Demo).

Here’s what you’ll get at launch:

- 🗺️ Three areas, filled with new enemies and five unique bosses!
- 🐸 Three playable characters, each with a unique board and exclusive dice types.
- 🪙 100 relics to collect and experiment with.
- 🎲 31 different dice types with 14 combinable properties.
- 💪 Four extra difficulty levels.
- 🏆 40+ achievements and unlockables.
- 💬 Full localization in 11 languages.

We have big plans for Die in the Dungeon beyond launch. Here’s a look at what’s coming in the first few months:

We originally aimed to have controller support ready for launch but decided to hold off until we could do it right. Expect a much smoother and more polished controller experience in a post-launch update.

We may even introduce it through a beta branch first, stay tuned!

At launch, you’ll already have four unlockable difficulty levels (with more to come in the future!), but we want even the best players to have more interesting challenges and rewards.

That’s why we’re working on Endless Mode, a fresh challenge with new enemies and bespoke mechanics for those who want to push their limits.

We don't want to reveal too much just yet, but here's is a small taste of what's coming:

- Better Events. As a beloved mechanic from Origins, we want to reintroduce dice-rolling during events. But this time, we have a much better idea on how to make them feel better and more balanced. More details soon!

- Bestiary and More Content. The new Codex already includes an exhaustive list with all characters, dice and relics in the game, but something’s still missing… enemies! We’re working on a proper Bestiary with detailed enemy info, including lore! Of course, we’ll also continue expanding other categories with new dice, relics, and more.

- Story and Secrets. While we focused primarily on gameplay for the Early Access release, that doesn’t mean we aren’t planning to expand the world of Die in the Dungeon. In fact, those of you who played CLASSIC will probably have a few questions waiting for an answer…

Is there a *true ending* awaiting our amphibian heroes?

And now, for those who want to go the extra mile, we’re excited to introduce the Supporter Pack!

If you’d like to support the development of Die in the Dungeon, the Supporter Pack is a great way to do so! By picking it up, you’ll be directly helping us continue improving and expanding the game while receiving some exclusive content in return.

Here we go: on December 1st, our new prologue, Die in the Dungeon: Origins, will be released!

While we are preparing for the release, making final adjustments to the balance, and finishing localization (which we'll also talk about today), let's discuss the progress we've made since the release of the last version of the game.

Sit back and relax; there's a lot of exciting new details waiting for you!

And remember: all these gameplay elements will also appear in the full version!


Origins is a free prequel to the main game, coming to Steam in just a week! The game takes place several years before the events of Die in the Dungeon, featuring many new mechanics and a new playable character, Lisver.

For this prologue, we have updated the art and introduced new features to make the game more interesting and unique, while also keeping the core dice and board mechanics from the original version.

Let's dive into the details!


Throughout your adventures, you'll encounter not only a series of new enemies and dice but also unique events. True heroes don't just fight. Now, between battles, you'll sometimes come across special events where you can make decisions that open up new dice or, on the contrary, become obstacles you'll have to deal with. And there, you can acquire new relics!

Whaaaaat? What are these relics? Don't worry; we'll explain now!


Relics are special items that will change the way dice work, altering the properties of your board and the rules of a game!

We've added more than 40 relics to help you create even more unique decks of dice. After all, their main task is to make each playthrough unique!


New dice coming! Prism Dice are a highly powerful type of dice... if used correctly. By themselves, they don't really do much. But when you combined them with other dice, well, they say a gif is worth more than a thousand words:

That's right, Prims Dice reflect the power of other dice like Boost and Mirror, allowing them to target more slots and increasing their power greatly. Not bad, uh?


Lisver is a semi-retired Dice Knight, a legendary hero considered by many to be the fastest warrior in the realm. His offensive-based fighting style focuses on striking first and striking hard, with its own unique battle board and a brand new dice property: Flash.

But new heroes need new enemies!


Coming from the depths of the dungeon, a new enemy appears!

Plague bugs will use their poisonous potions to infect your board. This infection will quickly spread through slots, so use your dice to stop it before it's too late!

But believe us, this guy shouldn’t be your main concern! Someone bigger is waiting for you around the corner…


Finally, let's discuss the localization of our new prologue! Making the game accessible to player all around the globe has been a priority for us for a long time…

So, we can confirm localization in 11 languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, and Turkish!

Currently, we are selecting fonts, testing translations, and will strive to prepare all these languages for the release!

For the past few months, something important has been brewing behind the scenes, something that will greatly impact the future of Die in the Dungeon: our search for the right publisher! You might be wondering, why do we need a publisher in the first place? Well, the main reason for us was time. You can only get so far spending only your free time on a project, so now that we can finally focus our full attention on Die in the Dungeon, development times will speed up significantly! And not only that, but we can also make all the new features we have for the game a reality.

Of course, their help is not limited to only that, it also comes in the form of localization, marketing, platforms (👀) and much more. We want the game to reach as many players as possible in the future, and they’re helping us make that happen!

Hi everyone! This is gonna be a short one, as the title is pretty self-explanatory. We're adding 16 achievements to the game with this update, ranging from easy peasy to very hard to unlock. If you manage to get them all, you'll definitely be the coolest frog in the dungeon, so do share a pic if you want!

Here's the full changelog for 1.6.2:

• ADD > 16 new achievements, including two hidden ones.
  
• ADD > More questions for the Trivia Spider event.
  
• ADD > New message when unlocking NG++.
  
• ADD > Grow Property reward will only show after completing the Grow Dice event now.
  
• FIX > Roly Poly event no longer discards more than one die (usually Attack Dice) when selecting the first option.
  
• FIX > Locked slots (e.g. Heavy Dice) not showing tooltips for certain board slots (e.g. Crown Mark slots).
  
• FIX > A few typos on dialogues and events.

Anyway, let’s get to the main topic: we just published the first mini-update for the prologue, 1.6.1! This update consists mostly of balance changes and bugfixes, most importantly: Jester won’t be around ruining runs anymore, now you will get information about the effect of the deal beforehand. Again, sorry for that one!

Here’s the full changelog for 1.6.1:

• ADD > Jester event now includes explanation of effect (randomize all dice) before accepting deal.
  
• ADD > Terrain Dice can now be boosted by Boost Dice.
  
• ADD > Terrain Dice with Grow Property will increase value correctly now.
  
• ADD > Cockroach will now always die when its HP reaches double its initial value to avoid softlocks.
  
• ADD > Better support for windowed mode (game window is now resizable).
  
• ADD > Better audio control: sliders for Music and SFXs on the Pause menu.
  
• ADD > Hovering over enemies (and player) HP will now show their maximum health.
  
• FIX > Mixed Dice now interact correctly with Honey Dice.
  
• FIX > Evil Frog attacks now get affected by Endless Mode damage increase.
  
• FIX > Enforce correct aspect ratio on Title Screen and End Screens.
  
• FIX > Honey Dice not showing the correct face until you put them on the board.
  
• FIX > Modified target hitbox for dice in Draw Pile to avoid rapid flickering when hovering over the bottom.
  
• FIX > Crown Mark slots and Terrain bonus text now render together more gracefully.
  
• FIX > Evil Frog should always fill the board with dice completely during its first encounter.
  
• FIX > Evil Frog will use Hollow Dice instead of Heavy during battle, and be more aggressive in general. This should reduce boring deadlock scenarios.
  
• FIX > Wrong music playing during multiple boss encounters.
