Half-Life 2

Half-Life 2

View Stats:
Half Life 3 will be announced or released by 2026
2026 being Valves 30th anniversary, and 5 years since 'HLX' began development.

Just leaving this here so the cynical people who still think it's 2017 can make antiquated arguments about Valve not needing the money, that they don't want to/need to make games anymore or that technology has not advanced enough or blah blah blah.

Hope you all enjoy the game when it finally releases. :dslike:

why Valve wont make Half Life 3:

Valve’s famous flat hierarchy means people aren’t hired to join specific projects. Instead, they choose what to work on, and projects only ever get off the ground if enough people support and commit to them internally. Against this backdrop of Half-Life content and its community reception, you can understand why a game called Half-Life 3 never got off the ground.

Whoever drank from its poisoned chalice would be putting immeasurable pressure on themselves to deliver the single greatest video game made to date.

Best case scenario would be years of long hours, sleepless nights and competing creative visions. Worst case scenario: being responsible for trashing the studio’s reputation, sullying the best-loved shooter franchise in history.

antiquated nonsense that was maybe true in 2017

Willing to bet 100 dollars on it? I'll come back to this thread in 2 years and gift you Steam credit worth that amount if I'm wrong.

By the way, Valve quite literally admitted the 'flat hierarchy' was a mistake. Again, you people are permanently trapped in stasis and still think its the 2010's or something.

My dude the deniers have a leg to stand on they been denying successfully S+ tier for years and they were right. But it feels different this time. The chosen ones feel it. And if i'm wrong i'll erase all my posts and pretend I never said it.

Well in the 2010's yes, but the issue now is that it takes 5 years to make a AAA game (even longer for Rockstar and Bethesda) but yeah you're right, can't really fault people for being skeptical, I just feel as if Valve, Gabe Newell and Robin Walkers comments as of late have cemented it even without the rumours and leaks from data mining game updates.

I highly doubt you'd honour that. I've seen it plenty of times previously, people are like "lol, I was joking" or "did you really think I was being serious ?", or they ignore them.

Simply someone who doesn't care if you're talking trash, should be placing bets.
Valve is obsessed with innovation and gimmicks rather than making a good game. HL3 can be the most fun FPS ever made, but Gabe will trash it because it isn't pushing tech in some innovative way. Talk about perfectionism.

Also with every entry of the HL titles it seems like the games become less creative, I wouldn't be surprised if HL3 has no aliens at all, that would be too interesting.

I'm simply expressing my confidence in my prediction, and yeah there is no way for me to solidify my bet with anyone, but who really cares, and why are you so mad? Hope you enjoy Half Life 3.

Edit: checked your profile and found my answer to the 'why u mad' question, lmao

Highly doubt Valve cares what kind of anniversary it is.

I also don't believe we will get any announcement.

Which is why they went out of their way to celebrate Half Life 1 and 2 anniversaries with game updates and documentaries. Right.

By the way, I did not predict and I do not expect it to be announced at TGA Tonight.
