(SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY) FEMALE ASTARTES/ REPRESENTATION
IF YOU JESTER REACT. YOU ARE STUPID. FORM AN ACTUAL ARGUEMENT AND REPLY SO WE CAN DISCUSS THE ISSUE.

Look, I'll start this off by saying I've been a member of the Warhammer community now for an extensive period of time (roughly 2 years~ since I started the hobby), and I've been playing Warhammer and Warhammer adjacent games for the entirety of that time. Ever since I began I have STRONGLY felt that the exclusion of femininity from the primary cast of characters in Warhammer is extremely disgusting. Most notably: The Emperor and his primarchs, the astartes in their chapters, and many of the characters besides.

It's not even that we need more female inclusivity (which we do). It's also that we need more sexual inclusivity, including homosexuality and bisexuality, which are two things which are incredibly lacking in the Warhammer lore and amongst the astartes in particular.

I am not opposed to any arguements or disagreements on the topic, but I feel like we really have to be a serious, strong, united community and have a genuine discord about this topic going forwards. This is a live service game, anything can happen people. Personally I would love it if they finally bent, distanced themselves from the malicious ways of the 90s, and finally added female Astartes.

Edit: The Jester awards only prove your own stupidity.

yeah but none of them are astartes, literally the main characters of the game. It's 2024, you cant NOT be including females in the main cast
Because heretics are purged from the galaxy - It is better to die for the Emperor than to live for yourself.

Slaanesh has good ♥♥♥♥, trans, and other LGBT representation. You can customize your chaos marine as apart of the Emperor's Children! :D

I find it interesting that there's so much focus on including things like sexuality or gender representation in a game that's heavily based around combat and survival, where these aspects aren't really central to the narrative. Space Marines, as we know them in the lore, are biologically modified warriors with a singular purpose: to defend humanity against its enemies. They don't seem to have any room or time for relationships, sexual orientation, or even emotional development, given the harshness of their existence.

Does it really matter if a Space Marine is gay or straight if that isn't even explored in the context of the story? The focus has always been on their role as warriors, not on their personal identities or lives outside of that.

That said, I get that people want to see inclusivity and feel represented in the media they consume. I just think that maybe this particular setting, which is so centered on violence and survival, isn't where those elements are typically explored.

"Extensive years in this hobby"
"2 years"

Very funny for trying to glue those two together. And no, we already have plenty of females doing their part in this lore universe.

Warhammer 40k is a rich and expansive universe that has captivated the imaginations of fans for decades. However, the portrayal of female characters and their representation in the lore, miniatures, and gameplay often falls short. Here are several compelling reasons why there should be more female representation in Warhammer 40k:

1. Diversity and Inclusivity
Broadened Appeal: Increasing female representation can attract a wider audience, including women and non-binary individuals who may feel more connected to a diverse set of characters.
Reflecting Reality: Society is diverse, and a fictional universe should mirror that diversity to remain relevant and relatable.

2. Rich Storytelling
Complex Narratives: Female characters can bring unique perspectives and experiences to the storytelling, enriching the lore and providing depth to the narratives.
Diverse Roles: Women can occupy a variety of roles, from warriors and leaders to scholars and strategists, showcasing different facets of strength and intelligence.

3. Breaking Stereotypes
Challenging Norms: By featuring strong and complex female characters, Warhammer 40k can challenge traditional gender stereotypes and promote a more nuanced understanding of femininity.
Empowerment: Representation can empower women and girls, allowing them to see themselves as heroes and leaders within the narrative.

4. Community Growth
Encouraging Participation: A more inclusive representation can foster a welcoming environment for all fans, encouraging more people to engage with the community, whether through gaming, painting, or storytelling.
Collaborative Creativity: Diverse characters can inspire new stories, fan art, and fan fiction, enriching the community's creative output.

5. Market Demand
Consumer Interest: There is a growing demand for female characters in gaming and pop culture. Meeting this demand can boost sales and engagement with the Warhammer 40k franchise.
Merchandising Opportunities: Expanding the range of female characters can lead to new merchandise, appealing to a broader customer base.

Conclusion
In conclusion, increasing female representation in Warhammer 40k is not only a matter of fairness but also a strategic move that can enhance storytelling, promote inclusivity, and ultimately strengthen the community. By embracing diverse characters and narratives, Games Workshop can ensure that Warhammer 40k remains a vibrant and relevant universe for all fans.
GW has always been pretty slow when it comes to making changes to the lore. And, you can tell how controversial female space marines would be by looking at this forum.

That's not to say it'll never happen. We never thought we would see Primaris Marines, squats, loyalist Primarchs return or female custodians. . . really GW will do whatever they think will sell the most miniatures.

In the meantime it would be nice to see Sister of Battle classes get added to this game.

And what, they dont have room for gender either? They're literally all hulking dudes with guns, not one of them are female. Why is it implicit that only straight men are allowed to defend humanity against its enemies?
