This week we pushed another big update adding the new Cursed Forest Zone, and a new playable character, so it's a great time to jump in!

The third cursed zone and new unlockable character are now live!

With this update, each of the three main zones now has a more challenging variant to take on, and the addition of the unique, shape-shifting Sir Henry McBlobsford brings up the playable character count to 12!

We've added another cursed zone, the cursed forest, and a character to unlock by
beating that zone. We also added a simple introductory tutorial for first time
players to introduce important concepts like the auto-aim toggle and the active
abilities.

As mentioned above, this new, more challenging re-imagining of the Forest zone is the third "Cursed" variant zone. Each new zone features a new playable character and corresponding steam achievements to unlock.


We also added a brief tutorial to aid new players. This offers a useful overview of key aspects like how to use active abilities such as the dodge roll, and how to toggle auto-aim on/off. We also added heart icons up by the player HP bar/HUD to show how many revives are remaining.

It took a little while to get there, but the second cursed zone and new unlockable character are now live!

I feel like I say this every time I write one of these, but this REALLY is our biggest update so far yet in terms of new content, QoL features, and general larger scale tweaks and fixes.

Here is the full list of changes;

This update adds another cursed zone and character, along with some new features
and more fixes and improvements. In this update we have switched Auto-aim to on
by default for new players, and enabled the new damage numbers. Both can be turned
off in the settings menu, and existing players can choose to enable those options
there too.

Itemized Changes:-

• Added Cursed Tomb Zone
  
• Added Emily Flintlock character
  
• Two new achievements
  
• Added new enemy type for cursed tomb
  
• Added visible damage numbers (and option to enable/disable them in Settings)

• Change death sound/animations for some larger enemies
  
• Various other performance and bug fixes and tweaks

As mentioned above, this new, more challenging re-imagining of the Tomb zone is the second of three "Cursed" versions we plan to add. Each new zone will feature a new playable character and corresponding steam achievements to unlock. The Cursed Forest will be coming soon as part of the next update.



These were both common requests that we wanted to address alongside the new content. Zone bosses, mini-bosses and spawners all now have HP bars so you can track how much you're chipping away at them, and all of your damage output is now visible via a scale from low (white), to high (red). These visible damage numbers can be enable/disable at any time via the settings screen.

Fixed an issue with starting Co-op games in yesterday's update.

We're so happy to say that the first new zone and unlockable character are finally here!

Dr. Brinejaar is just your average scientist's brain in a jar mounted on mechanical spider legs



This is by far our biggest update yet in terms of new content, and also fixes a couple of existing larger scale issues.

This update combines the first new Zone and a lot of quality of life improvements. We
added the first of a series of "Cursed" zones, The Cursed Mansion, a significantly more
challenging re-imagining of the original zone. There's also a new character to unlock
by beating the new zone.

Since launch, being able to re-roll level upgrade choices has been once of the most requested feature updates, and we're super happy to say that it's finally here!

Here is the full list of changes;

• This update fixes a few minor issues and rebalances a few things, and also adds a new
  
• Re-Roll permanent upgrade option.
  
• You can use each Re-Roll once per run to refresh your level upgrade choices.

There is now a new re-roll permanent upgrade that allows the option to re-roll level up choices, up to a maximum of 3 times per run when fully upgraded.

When purchased, your remaining rerolls are shown at the bottom of the upgrade choice list as below.


We mostly addressed a couple of specific issues that players brought to our attention;

• In The Mansion, a lot of earlier enemy waves should now spawn a bit further away from the player to help prevent being overpowered at lower levels
  
• In The Forest, the general enemy volume around 5-7 mins has been toned down a little, and a couple of waves also now spawn further away from the player

As mentioned in the previous update, we're still actively working on both features and fixes for the game, but as a small team of two, these updates will likely be spread out over a slightly longer period of time.

Some of these future updates include;

• "Cursed" Versions of the existing zones with both tougher enemies and heftier XP rewards
  
• "Time Flies" rush variants of the existing zones with a faster clock speed for quicker sessions
  
• New playable characters to unlock

As noted in the future plans section of our previous update, this update was all about reworking both the Tomb and Forest zones to fall more in line with the changes made to mansion last week, and to generally improve them as much as possible.

Alongside the zone rework, we also implemented the feature to have right stick override auto-aim, as well as a unique enemy miniboss that only spawns to drop weapon evolution orbs when available.

In the previous update there were a lot of buffs and fixes, and the addition of auto
aim shook things up a bit. We only had time to rebalance and rework the mansion zone
for the last update, so we weren't too happy with the state of the tomb and the forest.
This update has been focused on cleaning up and improving those other zones so they feel
more varied and fun.

As always, if you think things have gotten too much harder or too much easier since the
last update, please join us in the Steam discussion forums and have your say.
