I have no clue what I am doing, but I am having fun. I am playing on casual, so that might be helping me.
The world is lovely, but there seem to be more commands than my poor old hands can manage. May have to experiment with changing the key-binds.
There sure does seem to be a heck of a lot of game here though, and I'm having fun, so an easy thumbs up.

Man, I have to say: I was about to give the game a negative review.

Then, I remembered that, from the very beginning, I didn't expect much from it: I took it on sale, it was released in 2013 and I never heard of it. Then, I enjoyed fair 10 hours of it, really:

• played on hard and the gameplay felt 'just right';
  
• nice humor on a lot of ARPG cliches;
  
• enjoyed skill tree and Ghost companion system
  
  I haven't tried multiplayer - just solo run. But there's a lot of problems that make it obvious on why this game was off my radar back then. For example:
  
• even for ARPG, some quests are way too 'grindy' and stretched just for the sake of wasting players time, like Siege quests that are rather boring than fun; same goes for huge locations filled with the same uninteresting opponents
  
• quest failures, which is kind of stupid for this genre: for example, you can fail a secondary quest as soon as you enter some other location, while nothing indicates that you can fail it;
  
• in between the attempts of making fun of other arpg cliches, the game is forgetting that it should also have at least some kind of a plot, and the plot if Van Helsing is boring af
  
• UI: a lot of places where there's a clickable area just doesn't look like a clickable button at first glance. For example: in Secret Lair, in 'Generator Upgrades" (Engineer) you can actually buy more generator capacity, or else, but all upgrades icons - both 'researched' and not - have the same 'backlight' or color if you like; I realised they can be researched only after 2 completed Sieges lol :)
  
  I decided to drop it after my last run, when I failed the quest after just entering next location. Feels a little bad since I took the whole VH anthology :) Maybe I'll pick it up again after I cool off
