pick a direction (left to right). shoot, move, don't miss any health/ammo drops. use the largest gun available to take out his backup quick (heavy machine gun?). if you try to rush it with punches, juggling, and shooting before the "permanent shield phase" you'll run out of ammo.

i recently reinstalled to finish the game using the knife (after collecting all 45 signs).
it was glorious.. took less than a minute.
