Because i like to play in fullscreen. And MG2 Solid Snake 1990 MSX is hands down one of my favorite games interms of MG and MGS in total. 10/10 game!

If you want full screen, go buy a 30 yr old square monitor.

Because of the way these games were designed. Think of every screen on the game as a grid. These grids were only ever meant to be on 4:3 screens, so to fit the entire 16:9 screen, you'd have to either stretch them, wich would look terrible, or modify them to work for this new size, wich would be a massive change to the game, so that would go against the whole point of rereleasing it for preservation's sake.

It's easier and better in terms of quality to keep the game in it's original intended state.

You can't have widescreen support for 2D games. It's impossible. Especially when the game is designed with that aspect ratio in mind.

Emulation is always an option, most emus support the function although the image will appear stretched out, but it would work fine - I've played tons of stuff like that
