To celebrate, I’d like to highlight my favourite character from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: Dr. Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov. 🧐
Sokolov is a pivotal character who aids Naked Snake in overcoming the Soviet Metal Gear precursor, the Shagohod. Throughout the storyline, he expresses a deep disdain for the unjust, corrupt, and decaying Soviet-communist system. His character is steeped in real-life political references, drawing from both Russian and Ukrainian history.

It’s no surprise, given Hideo Kojima’s knack for weaving real-world themes into his games, that Sokolov’s name reflects some prominent historical Ukrainian figures
