I changed the aim button to L1 (LB) as opposed to L3 and it has made a world of difference
I found aiming with L3 to be incredibly cumbersome but upon going into the steam controller settings and programming aim to LB I found it to be much easier to aim, move, and shoot. I highly recommend this to anyone having a hard time with the lack of pressure sensitive controls.

By default, autoaim is bound to LB. Did you remap it somewhere else? It's often very useful.

i kept the auto aim and running while shooting function. all i did was add the L3 buttton to L1
