T2Fix Lite or without mods?
I only recently discovered that simply disabling all of the optional mods in TFix (full) doesn't actually disable all of the graphical enhancement mods in the package and that you actually have to use TFix Lite. Is that the one I'm looking for for a vanilla looking experience or is it just "TFix without mods"?

generally, if you don't want any mods, then you would get the version that does not have any mods included. because you don't want them. makes sense?

Generally, the word "optional" would mean optional, so that players can change how they want to run their game on the fly, rather than have to download two separate packages. I mean, if you're going to make *some* features optional, you'd think all of them would be. Kind of like how Sneaky Tweaker works (far better UI, if we're honest). Makes sense?
I'm sure spending your time eternally online has greatly deteriorated your social skills, but if you could manage to actually be helpful by directly answering a simple question rather than sarcastically offer your linear line of logic, that'd be great.

"Without mods" is "lite"... plus? Plus what? Extra fixes? If "without mods" = no graphical mods, then why would someone recommend lite over it for a more vanilla looking experience? This is why I'm asking the question. Maybe you reacted impulsively after reading nothing but the title.

social skills are unnecessary if all you do is fix someone else's problems. people want the issue to go away, they don't care whether you wear lipstick and smile pretty.

ok, iirc T2Fix lite is just the official T2 patch + NewDark, no mods also has the fixed resources included (highly recommended), and full has all the mods as well.

technically, everything but lite is enhanced in some way, so if you want to go as vanilla as possible, then you have to go lite.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

I keep it this way: If I want to play the original campaign, I install Thief Gold or Thief 2, and then apply the TFix patches with mods on them (as I like the imrpvoed graphics). If I create a fan mission installation, I install Thief Gold or Thief 2 on Steam, don't apply any patches, copy the folders to another location on my hardware, and apply TFix Lite on both, as it is recommended to do that for fan missions, so there aren't any issues or graphical inconsistencies related to the mods in full TFix.

If that makes sense. Sure makes sense to me.

Pretty simple: Play Thief with modern PC compatibility and widescreen support while keeping the graphical assets as vanilla as possible. The main campaign. That's it.
"If that makes sense. Sure makes sense to me." Considering how your solution is more complicated than mine, and how my question could be answered with a single sentence, I'm not sure why you're being condescending. Previously I've used TFix full and just disabled all of the optional stuff in the launcher with the misconception that all of the optional stuff included *all* of the included mods. I'd download full for the sake of being able to use those graphical enhancements at a later date if I felt the need to.

TFix Lite then. ☑️

And, no need to be so defensive the whole time. Make sure you describe what exactly you want next time, then there's no room for confusion, especially when you're expecting a one liner reply.

The OP covered that perfectly well.

... if there hadn't been this last sentence: "Is that the one I'm looking for for a vanilla looking experience or is it just "TFix without mods"?"

Anyway, the answer to your questions is TFix Lite.

yes. I was kind of thinking he is making fun of things.

so just to be perfectly clear - whoever wants absolutely no changes to the vanilla assets (levels, objects, textures etc), should go for TFix/T2Fix lite.
