I was bored the other day and decided to see if I could get Thief 2 running nicely with an xbox elite 2 controller my wife bought for me on my birthday.

Built in joystick support allows you to have precise movement control but couldn't get the right thumb-stick to work at all. So I started to play around with Steams controller support which worked but I lost that fine movement control because it was just emulating WASD.

I found a work around that let me have both things at once...

I start the game with steams controller support disabled but games joystick support enabled, load in then activate Steams controller support. Both working together perfectly fine after I set up the button layouts in both game and Steams controller profile and disable steams use of the left thumb-stick.

Still have to start the game with Steams support disabled and enable it inside the game but I was amazed at how well it works now, I'm a mouse and keyboard guy but this is clearly better. The fine level of control with the ease of the controller is a game changer for me.
