While it may be possible, in the very loosest sense, to get this to function without patches, this is not an ideal solution. As said above, T2Fix[www.ttlg.com] is the recommended way to play Thief 2, especially considering the Steam distribution does not even have the official patch applied correctly by default.

Yes, I installed the version I bought on GOG.com

Apart from the fact this thread is 4-5 years old, I don't see any reason why the game wouldn't be played without patches these days.

And, isn't the GOG version patched already?

I an only repeat that there is really no reason to not patch the game with T2Fix. Unless you're looking for trouble.
