DSCM offers remedies for connection issues. By entering a player's Steam64 ID you can find and pair with a specific player, even if both start with 0 nodes. To help gather random connections, connecting to another player who has successfully built up some nodes should then help kickstart your own node growth.

Steam matchmaking does a terrible job of giving people nodes, so DSCM was created to allow people to work around it.

It's not required, but Steam matchmaking can leave you playing for hours without seeing another player.

Once you can get a single node, either by forcing one with DSCM or just getting lucky with matchmaking, you'll usually comnect to a bunch more right away.

This does not work with the beta version of Dark Souls, so be sure to opt out of the beta in the Steam settings if you haven't already. You should not have to have the same download region set in steam for this to work.
