Kingmakers

Anyone feel like this game is too good to be true?
From the gameplay and graphics I have seen the game just looks like it's promising so much and has so much potential to be amazing that it honestly makes it kind of hard to believe.

Don't get me wrong, I WANT to believe the game will be everything it has advertised itself as, but I didn't even hear about this game until earlier this year and it's now supposed to be releasing soon and looks like it has great graphics, physics, and combat, but has had little marketing and seemingly came out of nowhere.

I can't help but be reminded of The Day Before, where in trailers it looked great but ended up being nothing.

I'm not accusing the devs of being dishonest or scammers or anything, it's just hard for me to believe the game will be everything it promises. Maybe it releases with all the things we saw in the trailer but ends up being super buggy or all the features are half baked, or maybe it ends up being much less than it seemed.

I really hope the game is as good as it seems to be, but surely I'm not the only one that's kind of skeptical of it given the circumstances?

They released a bit more detail about the game in a post this week. As far as the game being too good to be true look at the past games made by this company. the game play is much the same so them being able to make it is in their wheelhouse.

With that being said they do have a long history of not meeting deadline and are often a year or more late on their release date.

So the game is very likely real and most likely going to be released in 2026.

tbh I don't care if it gets delayed if it is released in a complete state and everything it is advertised as.

The trailers are a pretty accurate picture of the game. They are 99% just captures of someone playing the game.

The only feature that we have shown that might not make it into the initial EA release would be the tank. Mostly because it is just really quite OP and we maybe will need some time to make sure the enemies have countermeasures for it. That said it may still make it in as a late game vehicle.

Well I just mean the trailers could be a vertical slice of the game running in a controlled environment and maybe on release it's different, though I hope not cause that would suck.

I think if they release and the game is like The Day Before in quality and deception, TinyBuild wouldn't recover any of the lost trust, and I doubt they would allow Redemption Road to release the game if it's in a bad state. TinyBuild is a name I recognise from No Time to Explain, and they've been the publisher for a lot of games like Hello Neighbor, Potion Craft, Graveyard Keeper, Clustertruck and other such games. This game has generated a lot of interest so far, and if it was a crapshoot, TinyBuild aren't going to want their name anywhere near that. Ergo, we can expect either a delay, or an acceptable release.

Or TinyBuild let it release as garbage and they lose the trust they've been building up in the gaming community for nearly 14 years at this point.

I think i am one of the few who do not mind a beta state game being unfinished and being worked on. Like 7 days to die 10 years as a alpha. I also know most people are not like me and if the game doesnt run perfectly they will be very unhappy. So i understand there is a difference between what i want and what is best for the company that is making this game. with that being said the game looks highly desirable.

That;s the thing, the game does look excellent. But just like No Man's Sky, it's possible what we were shown is nothing like what the actual state of the game is.

Normally i would agree. Because it has happened so many times in the past few years. The only reason i do not think its going to be the case here is because they have made games with the same type of mechanics before. So this is mostly a combination of all the games they have made before with add options from other games they liked.

Now i know just remaking the same game can still be a problem. look at mount and blade 1 and mount and blade 2. just about the same game but took years to make. there will be problem and things that will need to be fixed/ changed but the core game is there.

With that being said I personally am a bit disappointed in the direction the game is going. I was hopeing for a down to earth game play like mount and blade or the movie timeline. Instead the game is going for the Power up and boss battles. I could be alone on this but its not what i was looking for. Dont get me wrong I am still going to get the game its just not going to be the perfect work of art that would be the only game i play for the next 10 years that i thought it was going to be.

And the last thing i wish to add about the game. The company that makes it has a history of delaying games until they are ready. So the fact they are going to release it in about a month means that they feel the game is in a ready state and are not being forced out the door like No Man's Sky was.

Could you tell me which games your talking about? As far as i am aware the only game made by Redemption Road is well... Road Redemption. And i have enough playtime in that game to know that that game is nowhere near similar to Kingmakers or issue free. Still worth it though. Only game i bothered to 100%

Of course a Tank would be OP. I mean, hello. How would there even be counter measures for it? Its medieval times with metal that would barely scratch the paint. Especially for the way a tank's steel is hardened. Nothing would be able to stop it.

Unless you make it like the original Civilization game. Where War Elephants could destroy a Tank, but that made no sense at all and took away the immersion of battles greatly.

Maybe the best option would be to leave it out all together if its that much of a concern? But than at that point, take away all vehicles. Because a helicopter is way OP as well. No way a dude on a horse with a sword or even a bow and arrow would be able to a thing about it.
animal_PLANET 23 Nov, 2024 @ 6:06pm
Lol, I strongly disagree with both of your ways of taking down a tank or chopper. A ballista would have no chance. Range and accuracy is limited and they would be destroyed by the chopper before they got a shot off due to how long they take to fire and load.

There is no way even setting a tank on fire would stop it. They are built to with stand being on fire and even have fire suppression systems. There is also no way a knight could force their way in either. They would have no clue what they are even looking at or know whats inside to hit weak points. Nor would they have the tools to get in damage that type of armor.

But yea, If they are making a game like this. There is no way you are balancing anything fairly. So just let the players have fun. Or again, take away vehicles.

I mean, if you do bring this type of tech to the past. However they are managing the timeline and time travel. You would think by doing so it would change the future. So who knows what direction this will go in.
animal_PLANET 23 Nov, 2024 @ 7:08pm
Yes, the suppression system works for the engine as well and other components. Again, tanks are built to withstand fires. There are multiple AFES systems already. As well as crew being able to extinguish fires of course. Which for a tank crew in medieval times should have no trouble accomplishing. Murder holes, and machine gunner to clear the area, done.

If the ballistas are a threat. Than they would be a priority target. So theres still no chance there.

Anyway, no point in debating something as wacky as this. They can do anything but if they are able to be destroyed. They better come up with a damn good way to do so. As you say, as long is its fun.

They added giants? I did not see this in any trailer? I also hope they do not start adding in mythical creatures. The game would be a hard pass for me than.

Lol, I was just watching that as you replied. Yea, they seem to just be very tall, big soldiers. Mini giants? A lot of things seem to be a WIP still. So im expecting a delay into 2025+.
animal_PLANET 23 Nov, 2024 @ 7:20pm
There are so many games getting delayed into 2025. Its going to be a packed year! Hopefully its for the better yes.
Zarkkill 24 Nov, 2024 @ 7:19pm
The balancing could be your tank runs out of gas or runs over so many people that they get stuck in the treads lol
