This is a cooperative shooter from Turtle Rock Studios, the developers of the legendary Left 4 Dead. Released in 2021, the game aimed to revive the spirit of the cult zombie action title by introducing new mechanics and a modern visual style. But did it manage to become a worthy successor, or did it remain in the shadow of its predecessor?


4-player co-op – teams fight against hordes of infected on large maps.
Card system – instead of traditional progression, players use cards that grant bonuses and alter playstyles.
Diverse characters – each hero has unique abilities and perks.
Special zombies – mutants with various abilities, similar to L4D but with distinct features.
Overall, the game offers a dynamic and hardcore cooperative action experience, but the card system turned out to be a controversial decision—not everyone liked it.


The graphics have been modernized, with improved lighting and level design, but the atmosphere is not as dark as in Left 4 Dead. The soundtrack and sound effects are pleasant but do not create the same tension as its predecessor.

Overall, Back 4 Blood is a solid cooperative zombie shooter, but it failed to become a true replacement for Left 4 Dead. It’s fun, fast-paced, and exciting, but the card system and focus on action make it feel less atmospheric. A great choice for co-op play, but not without its flaws.

As a huge advocate of Left 4 Dead and zombie games, I absolutely hated this game when it first dropped. But since then I gave it another chance and well..this is an absolute masterpiece of a zombie game. The card system takes a little time to figure out. Just play the game a bit, earn some supply points/skull totems. Unlock new cards and build a solid deck. Solo or co-op, the action is absolutely bananas and the game is optimized very well! 10/10 would recommend this to my friends
