Are you using a laptop? Based on the posts here, the game seems to be especially prone to problems on laptops (the game doesn't like the resolution and/or refresh rate). Here's a post where someone described how they fixed a problem like yours:

If that doesn't help, you could search the forum. There are plenty of posts from people with similar problems. Maybe someone posted a solution that will work for you.

so i switched moniters and switched back and that did the trick.

Glad to hear that you got it working. A number of people with multiple monitors have also posted about problems, so that also seems to be a problem for this game.
