Controller No Input - Can't play game.
The keyboard controls aren't great and you can't use a mouse so I need a controller. I'm using a DualShock 4 (PS4 Controller) and a piece of software called SCP Server that tricks your PC into thinking a DS4 controller is an Xbox 360 controller.

SCP Server - https://gyazo.com/e9c9f53555ca3fba12a2b4186d8ac93e
Devices & Printers - https://gyazo.com/97022ff5c009521c5432047be2d2cad4

When I open the game, I can skip the opening cutscenes by pressing 'Options' (Start) on my DS4, at which point the game will take one of two routes; either it will ask me to select an input device and I'll get this problem:

http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=915621249

Where it recognises the device but will not let me input any controls, or route 2; it will allow me to navigate the menu, I'll load my save and once I'm in-game I am able to move using the analog sticks, but as soon as I press a button it will sign in Player 2, I will still be able to use all of my controls on Player 1 with the DS4 (even the buttons that signed in Player 2) but Player 2 will have no controls bound at all and cannot move, if I open the menu to make P2 drop out then there will be no drop out option, but instead, P1 will now have a drop out option.

Oddly enough, there is a third route that very rarely happens, which is that once out of the 20 - 30 times I have loaded the game, the game just recognised the DS4 as an X360 controller and let me play the game without signing in P2, which I imagine is what's supposed to happen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anything about SCP Server, so I can't help you with that, and I haven't tried to use a PS4 controller on a PC, but there's a program named x360ce that you might want to try. I don't really know much about it. It's just something that I've seen mentioned. I don't know if it even works with this game, but if you can't get SCP Server to work, you could give x360ce a try.

I've tried using another program, DS4 Windows and have had the exact same problem so I doubt it's related to the controller and related software, I'm pretty sure it's the game.

Just out of interest, since you use mouse & keyboard, what controls have you been using?

Actually, I did use a controller. It was just one that was 360-compatible.

UPDATE: To anyone finding this in the future due to a similar problem.

I fixed it by restoring my PC (due to a number of factors, not just this) and it's completely fixed now. If you're really at a loss, maybe try it.

Interesting. Maybe there was something wrong with your Windows files. IAC, I'm glad it's working now.

I had a lot of troubles that weekend. Arkham Asylum wouldn't run, Lego Batman wouldn't work with my DS4. I couldn't update drivers. NVIDIA Control Panel wouldn't open. My monitor was turning itself off due to a loss of signal from my PC and wouldn't turn back on unless I rebooted. I know for a fact that my GPU uninstalled, but there may have been other problems.

Luckily the reset fixed all of the problems I've had.

Sounds like your computer was haunted. :-) At least it seems to have been a software problem and not hardware.

I know this forum is about a year old now, but i am having the same issue,
I am using a DS4 controller with DS4Tool to connect it to my computer. When ever I open the game I can use my controller to skip the openning cut scene then it asks me to imput contols which from there it becomes unresponsive when I try to imput them. And help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't use a PS4 controller. Later Dual Shock is filth.

Use a PS2 controller. Plus Assembly programs used for the Controller and hardware of your PC often are changed over the years, so a game from this era wouldn't exactly operate the same on a modern controller.

While it is true that Hardware Programming is a really untouched part in the modern Western world, it doesn't mean that they won't still have incompatibility issues.

i know this post is dead but has anyone found a solution?

You could see if any of the suggestions in the topic below help. One person said that they got a controller (they didn't say which one) to work when they set it up in Steam. That might be a good place to start.

My 8bitdo ultimate 2 corded has this issue my retro fighters hunter USB cordless doesn't i think it's a issue with the game itself I just wanted to co op with my son and this prevented it completely :steamsalty:
I use a 8bitdo Ultimate 2c controller, and I had the same problem, when I opened the game and pressed a button on my controller in the title screen that says "Press any button blablabla" the game moves to the "Control Configuration" screen as shown at the start of the discussion, the game only recognized a few buttons on the controller, it specifically didn't recognize Y, start, select, pressing the two analog sticks and the two bumpers.

What fixed this problem for me was:
1 - go to the game's Proprities window on Steam
2 - go to Controller
3 - Enable "Enable Steam Input"
4 - thats it :)
