Very Hard Game
I could not win even on the lowest setting. Despite Owning 70% of the map my enemy sat behind epic walls of non stop fleets. By the time i final rolled them back , i found out they won the Economic Victory a long time ago. How they managed that when i was destroying 10+ fleets a turn and owning most of the map is beyond me. It's like they were generating Dust with no relation to what they actually owned.

yes, the game can be darn hard until you recognize the mechanics and play the synerguies. Newbie difficulty doesnt mean the enemy is helpless, it ll still play to kill and if given enough time to develop can become pretty dangerous.

At some point if you research deep enough and build the appropriate buildings dust becomes a non-issue. Also if your enemy was the Harmony, those guys dont even use dust and simply build whatever they need

Best thing you can do is to keep trying, re-use what worked, discard what didnt (expanding fast is a bad strategy if your faction isnt designed for that kind of approach for example).

Solid ship designs help tons. For the most part building specialized ships is better then trying to design all-rounders. Build tanky ships that have no punch but can soak up incoming damage and have em in the front protecting your squishy glass cannons sitting in the back

Is this your first time playing 4x strategy?

Highly industrialized colonies have a “convert production to dust” mode.

". It's like they were generating Dust with no relation to what they actually owned."

bad attitude to start pointing finger at everyone else cheating vs looking at what you can do better.
The game is only hard if you dont understand what you are doing. once you have learned the basic mechanics in the game is horrible easy to win even at endless. you just need to understand this is not a game that just hands everythingto you. just like in many old school games you have to figure out how things work.

did you do any math on your battleships? if you are just launchin a random mindless army towards the enemy you are ost likely going to hit their walls as they will slowly adapt to your weapone type.

its a strategy game you have to be ..strategic in what you do.

so maybe instead of finding excuses for yourself. try to read raound the many guides on how things works so you can learn the game
lets not be too hard on frustrated newcomers. The game IS hard on newbies. I pretty much held the same view when I first picked it up, came to the forums to share my frustration and instead realized that many others succeed at what I m failing at.

Its okay to voice your frustration if you are willing to listen to reason, advice and try to improve. The game is not designed to be impossible or unfair (if you stay within reasonable difficulties).
I think it's the best to learn playing against peacefull factions first. Amoeba, Harmony, Sophons, Horatio and Sowers...

They're more easy. 95% of wins against them in very easy for me ^^ (yea, i'm proud of myself).

That actually quite interesting you mentioned harmony.
amoeba i can fure sure get behind but funny enough harmony was the one race i struggled with the most when learning the game.
Their ship was always soo freaking hard to kill.

and Sophos is my main race. Huge loveable nerds.. but i actually never play agiast them in my games since i like to be ate only TRUE sophons.

but i think you point standa that more passive races well give yu less annoyance while you are learning the ropes of the game

You are right. My apologies to OP. I could have handle it in a better way.
Self victimization is just a huge pet pevee of mine ,as it minimizes you ability to find a solution to your problem

Horatio was always one of the most agressive races in my games, and i play altered vaulters most of the time:D

Fun fact on very easy you have a good chance of discovering the technology required to jump between systems. That way you can get from those few uninhabited and even from some habited systems extra bonuses from the encounters. Since the AI on very easy and easy will not be that fast. (with some luck it also works on hardest dificulties. Though there you need to get the tech unlocked before turn 28 usually. Once i had it unlocked in turn 10 with a lucky encounter, all the extra money, ships and tech i got cuz of it was ridiculous!)
