How to launch a ship from the hangar?

Howdy! I'm completely new to this game. I just created a Defender ship, but it got stuck in the hangar. I heard that you need to "launch" a ship from the hangar somehow, but there's no such option. When I click on the star system, I can see "Hangar", "Improvements", "Repair" ... but there's no "Launch" in there. On the galaxy view, I can see "Fleets orbiting Tercana", so how do I make those fleets flying all over the galaxy instead of orbiting their home system?

when you get into your system view your hangar will be on the lower right side, if you have ships in the hangar and also selected (they are all selected by default, use shift or ctrl to select the ships you want to combine into a fleet). You can click "create" to form a fleet out of your selected ships and put em into orbit

If the selected ships exceed your available command point pool the create button will be greyed out
