Activate boost or not
I just started playing this game, so obviously I won’t be able to finish the story before the boost up event ends. Do I just activate the boost and skip the main story content? Or do I give up the boost up event rewards to play through the campaign? Is the story any good? Do I miss out a lot goodies if I don’t boost up?

I personally wouldn't activate it. All the free characters from it including Ult Bunny as well as the weapons are far easier to farm than they used to be thanks to Target Rewards, Stabilizers for Amorphous Materials, and free parts or pieces attached to story. Also will get a decent number of Catalysts anyway from login and event rewards over time, plus playing the game.

Boost will skip you over almost all of the story with no way to go back and view most of it. Story isn't perfect, but it gets better as it goes, has some really good moments, and a lot of the game will be less interesting with no context.

If nothing else, at least play through story for a few hours and see where you can get to then decide to activate or not later tonight. You can make support requests in the pause menu if you end up stuck somewhere because of difficulty.
The event is temporary, but the story is available on YT. But it's your choice at the end of it. I found the new player early game grind before hard mode to be the best part of the game
I decided not to boost. New player here too. I ended up liking the game quite a bit. It’s better than most other f2p games I tried, so I’m gonna stay unboosted and enjoy the story.
I'm MR 30, 2.6k hrs playing, I activated that boost. Most of the quests were completed automatically, after finished the quest line, I have 6 descendant serums, 1 weapon serum, some trash ult weapons, modules... Do it if you have finished all contents, after that, if you don't want to do it anymore, just leave it be, it will be expired soon.

Does it skip story? I'm going through it and it starts with normal Descendants and missions and escalates to Ultimate Descendants/Weapons and Hard missions. You don't get hard until you beat the story if I remember...

As for skipping the story, when I boosted there where 40 days. I absolutely could have cleared the story withing 40 days, it's not that difficult. Hardest part is intercepts and that's group content, people aren't using Gregs anymore lol or maybe in normal they are...

Play through the story w/o skipping then activate the boost event. There are still like 20 days, you should be able to complete it even if you start now.
I'm pretty sure it skips all the story. The 20 days is for people who activated the boost which is going to end in 2 hours. I'm not even close to finishing the main story. I think I'll skip the boost up event cuz I do want to play through the campaign at least once at my own pace. Also, you can literally purchase all the characters from the cashshop. Judging by how much the playerbase has fallen off since launch, I'd believe the endgame is probably not super exciting anyway. The story progression might be the best part of the game. What a shame they can't just give people the option to not skip story.

Does it skip story?

When you activate "Boost," early main quests (Normal Difficulty Quests) will automatically be completed and Hard Difficulty will be unlocked, allowing you to start from the Sigma Sector Main Quests in "Season 2 Episode 2 Beyond the Void."
Additionally, you can instantly acquire essential items for growth, including the Descendant Bunny, Ultimate Tier Equipment, and Modules.
If you would like to experience the early story, please complete all Normal Difficulty Quests first, then activate "Boost" to receive the essential items.
