Command prompt showing up at the initial boot, or a weird pop up whilst playing:
To see if you've been infected:

Go to your Event Viewer, in Log Summary there should be Windows Powershell.
Open it up and check events (that were created around the time you've ran into the problem) and see if you have an event that is interacting with a website files.catbox.moe.

If you don't want to do it manually:

You can use this powershell one-liner to spit out any log entries that are catbox related and identify if you've been attacked:

Open Windows Powershell and use this command line:

(Get-EventLog -LogName "Windows PowerShell").message | select-string -pattern ('cat' + 'box')

Hit enter, and if any logs pop up, you've been infected.

Update for me:
Just checked via powershell. No infections. I also cleaned out whatever I saw in %temp%, as well as ending the task of a program to delete files, if needed. Whatever that it is that was in my temp folder wasn't related to a virus. I've had no infected scans of any kind since hearing about this issue, however I've kept the game uninstalled for now, till this issue is resolved.

I'm not even going to play the game in offline mode; I'm taking no chances.

No, clearing logs won't fix anything
Currently there's people in the community creating a patch that'll remove the files from your PC, it's hard to find them manually, they could be hiding anywhere.

One of the people in charge of making the fix for it said that the malware is badly written, a mere restart of your system could in fact kill it.

Whether it's fixed or not I think it would be appropriate if devs made an announcement or sticky post about what happened or made a comment on it at least on the forums here.
