At the bottom of the server list, there are a couple of boxes you can tick to make searching easy to the point where you don't have to search. The only exceptions for not tick some of these boxes is if you have a certain server you want to join.

Tick 'Availible Room' to only list servers that are not full because you wouldn't be able to play those anyway.
Tick 'Public Room' to filter out any password servers since you can't join them without the password anyway.
Tick 'Active Room' to only list servers that have at least one player in them.
Tick 'Match By Rank' to filter out servers lower than your rank which means no novice servers if you're a higher rank.
Tick all of four.

I've been using this since the beginning and this is the reason why I've never seen the problem with all the novice servers taking up space. Ticking these options, I can find servers to play at any time of the day with no searching or scrolling involved.
