Update/Solution:
1. Right click To the Moon from Steam library -> Property -> BETAs tab, and select "-achievement ..." from dropdown menu.
2. Change language from Languages tab temporarily to English
3. Let download, run the game, and load the Autosave near the end, and run the last sequence of the game.
The achivement is not being triggered. There is no Languages tab under To the moon's properties.
One strange thing is that no achievement is shown under "Personal achievement". I mean, the locked achievement is not listed, but it is in the global or while comparing achievements.
Congrats on the game, anyway. Thought I wouldn't enjoy it and was very pleasantly surprised
The sticky Linux/MAC FAQ mentions this (didn't look there earlier since the game runs fine on my machine - the graphics even look sharper than on win7).
For other linux users, if you also have a windows machine: copy the savegamefiles from ~/.local/share/freebirdgames/tothemoon/ to your %AppData%/to the moon - freebird games/ folder and load the autosave. You'll start on the bridge and finish the game in a couple of minutes as Reives mentions.
Apparantly there is a small bug in the couldsave on linux, after I use the trick above to get the achievement and restarted Steam on my Linux machine I now have the savegames cloned in my ~/.local/share/freebirdgames/tothemoon/to the moon - freebird games/ folder.
And since I forgot to mention it earlier: great game! The story is compelling, touching and the musical score fits perfect. The only letdown is the length of the game, but I suppose the game can't be stretched further without causing some other problems.
It was necessary to copy the save game over to the wine copy (I guess the cloud sync isn't working on linux either).
Far from ideal, I know, but at least a windows machine isn't required.
Great game regardless!
Is this a bug?
Can something be done about it?
