Its an insane achievement they really should of thought that one through. Its a really bad, boring and unfun challenge. Why would you want to playthrough a game as boring as you possibly can? I really enjoyed this game tho on normal, playing through it on hard, and even with all your weapons its still tough. Especially since, unlike doom, duke and others you can't really hit box around corners because the way this game funnels in confrontations it seems impossible. With the rifle on hard I can't even imagine, I tried it one time on the hardest difficulty with the rifle and those guys that float around with missiles? What the hell...

Anyway they could easily fix it and say screw it, and let us use console cheats, like quake1 allowed. Honestly if someone wants to spam through with a rifle tediously shooting everything dead while invincible I wouldn't care. And none of the guys who got this ach legit should care either. Especially since, if they really care to brag about legit rifle snoozefest they got the date.

I did it out of spite and yes, it really is as boring and stupid as it seems.
It's not really hard, just awfully annoying and tedious.

If by "legit" you mean "no saving" - I respectfully disagree, the very nature of this so-called challenge is to exploit every game mechanic availabe to the max (cheese), there are plenty places you outright have no choice but to do that.
Besides, it says "no dying", not "no saving", so there's that:leatherneck:

I just don't think I got the patience but all other achs look reasonable, maybe I might try this if I got all others just out of how much I like the game. Have tried the rifle out and it is better than most starting weapons, and has infinite ammo, chasm makes it a little easier than quake with body targeting while quake is just sponge it up. But the one that really seems rough is the flying guys cause they are hard to target, and the tanked out dudes cause they seem very spongey with high damage and random body targeting. Sometimes an arm pops off, sometimes nope.

Would love some tips from someone who beat it tho.

First, this helps:

For me the biggest help was luring enemies by shooting at distant walls/floors (even in locked areas, you can shoot all room without even stepping in it through shootable barriers) and melee baiting (forward-backward moving and shooting). Learn enemy placement in the hard sections (at least).

First 2 episodes are just a matter of time, don't be greedy and you should be fine. Also save some health for the E1M4 level start because you will die in seconds (in E1M3 there are plenty of oportunities to boost your health to 150-200).

3rd episode:
1st Level
- a long walk in the park
2nd level
- the first major obstacle, pressing button will open walls with 3 vikings
- after using the wheel, quickly move forward and start shooting the first viking while moving forward-backwards (luring him with his melee attack)
- if everything goes right, the first viking will block the second one and you should be able to fight only one at a time (if the second goes pass the first one, reload)
- if you kill the first one, repeat the same strategy to seconds and third viking
3rd level
- one of the hardest part of this achievement
- at start, quickly move forward from the open area with 2 clowns and start shooting at the first boar while moving forward-backwards 1-2 meters (avoiding clown projectiles)
- with this strategy, you should avoid most damage from the clowns while stun-locking the boars
- after killing both boars, kill the 2 clowns and then the 3rd boar behing the corner
- at the end of the level with the gold key, try to lure and crush as many vikings as you can with the door (this will save you a lot of time)
4th level
- another hard part is the 3 boars spawning near the beginning
- my strategy was moving to one side and if all the boars allign to one side, you should be able to quickly run/jump pass them and then kill them easily
- if they won't alling properly, reload and repeat (took my ~7-10 tries)
- another "hard" part is 4 vikings spawning while the entry to the room is blocked
- this is easy, because you need to just move forward (vikings will spawn) and then quickly backwards (the barier won't trap you in the room)

4th episode:
1st level
- a mostly walk in the park
- the last part near exit can be a bit pain but all you need to do is lure enemies one-by-one and circle strafe
2nd level
- area with switch and closing door with 2 enemies
- my strategy was circle-strafing/jumping around them until the door finally opened (just a few seconds), because going to the big circle area was a death sentence
3rd level
- the start area can be also a pain
- the only strategy that worked for me was forward-backward shooting each "melee enemy" because there is not enough room for circle strafing (the wide area can be deceiving)
- area with the green card - pick up the card and jump down the stairs exiting the room (you should avoid all 4 enemies)
- area with the 4 switches (after you press all of them) - quickly run through the door and circle-strafe the imprisoned enemy in the center
- the door should close after a few seconds so you should be safe after killing all enemies in the room
4th level
- the only hard area is the first room
- do not lure the 4 plasma shooting enemies until you kill all the melee ones

My two cents:
-Hitscanners (soldiers and zombies, yes, the scream is a hitscan) are [s]bastards[/s] pop in and out behind the corner targets
-Be aware that a lot of enemies get homing projectiles on hard
-Infighting is a thing and can be used
-Rocket launcher guys take little to no splash damage from their own rockets, but other enemies die from it just fine
-Understanding the level geometry and objects hitboxes helps a lot, many times I was able to make the enemy hit the stuff, but I could slowroll 'em to death
-In E3 pop the Jokers' saw arms as soon as you can, saws hurt plenty and are homing on hard, without the saw the Joker is as harmful as a corgi puppy
-The "trigger the melee attack" was kinda tricky for me, you not only have to get close to the enemy, but stay there until the attack animation starts, which takes some time
-Try to pick up weapons outside of combat so you could carefully switch back to the rifle and not ending up shooting 'em by accident, which voids this achievment. As soon as you get them all this is no longer a threat
-Make a manual save at the start of every level in case something goes wrong, quicksave any time you make progress
