Having issues? Check here first.
Hello, Defiers!

TRY THIS FIRST

We're identifying some common offenders behind bugs. If you are have troubles with something, try out these steps:

- Go to properties, installed files, and "verify" your game files.
- Make sure your graphics drivers are updated.
- Check to see if the Epic store is updated
- Sync your clock/ reset computer clock time (yeah, we think its weird too)

STILL TROUBLESOME?

If you are encountering consistent crashes or issues while playing Dawn of Defiance, running the game utilizing DirectX 11 is an option.

Although we do not technically support DirectX11, DirectX12 is prone to particular hardware and driver issues. Please note that enabling DirectX11 will degrade the visual fidelity of Dawn of Defiance, as certain rendering features that we leverage do not work without DirectX 12.

To enable DirectX11, navigate to Dawn of Defiance in your Steam library, right click properties, and inside of the the general tab add the following line to your launch options:
-dx11

FIRST LOAD ISSUES?

We have observed a small percentage of hardware machine configurations can encounter an issue after fresh installs that can cause the game to hang at the initial loading screen during initial shader compilation.

If this happens to you, please force close the application and restart it, and on the second run this issue should resolve itself.

FOR INTEL CORE 13TH AND 14TH GEN CPUS:

If you own an Intel 13900k, 14900k, 13700, or 14700 CPU, please check out this link provided by Intel that cover potential issues suggesting BIOS updates:
https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Microcode-0x129-Update-for-Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-Desktop/m-p/1622129

There is a known issue with certain Intel processors (13900k, 14900k, 13700, and 14700) and their variants (Like the 13900ks). Intel has acknowledged the issue and multiple articles have been written about how to resolve it.

Please refer to the following article as you could be damaging your CPU: Update for Intel Core [community.intel.com]. This can give you error messages that are red herrings such as being out of video memory. We strongly advise reading the article and taking appropriate action to protect your hardware.

We are continuing to investigate these issues and will report back once resolutions have been reached.
