Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2

Recent patch improved performance
The most recent patch improved the performance and fps stability in Vernworth on my PC, I went from having 40/45fps with an unstable frametime (It gave me a headache how unstable it felt when moving around the city) to 55/60fps with a much more stable frametime. It feels much smoother than before.(Everything at maximum, Rt on - 5700x3d + 6950xt)

Something to take into account is that now Vernworth has much lower npc density, It almost looks like a ghost town until the npcs simply fade into the scene.

Before you mention, no, I didn't buy the game, I use family sharing to play.

I know the patch notes don't mention anything about it but I know when there is an improvement, I'm too sensitive to frame drops so before it was practically unplayable for me.

Has anyone else noticed a performance improvement?

You have a link to the patchnotes?
Nah, I don’t see any difference, is still the same as before the patch (I never had any issues)

Quite the opposite, since I updated this morning it works much worse for me and with more stuttering than ever.

The game runs like a joke now. Below 30 FPS and a stuttering mess at 1080p.

In have a similar PC : Ryzen 5900X + RTX 4080 + 32gb ram.
Imagine how it runs for people with more modest pcs.
I have a worse PC than you and it runs significantly better than that. Something's deeply wrong with your computer if you're getting 30 fps

It was the last patch sir. I was getting 40 FPS lowest before. The stutter was mostly gone.
Its not my PC.
I've been coasting on 120 fps (some minor drops in Vernworth, nothing too distracting) on a 4070 TI and 5600x

You should not be at <30 fps lmao

Dude I am running with no fake frames and DLSS and Progressive.
Q: What fps do you get at 1080p max no RT no DLSS no FG Progressive?
I'm not running at max settings, why should I? High FPS > Mildly better graphics.

>Not using framegen on a 40 series card
>Not willing to lower settings
>Complains about low fps

Enjoy your <30 fps I guess lol
Same here... was a PERFECT 30 fps, since this update, as soon as I turn the camera, 20 fps, freezes... it's AWFUL...
I thought it was a Windows update which broke it, but I desinstalled it and it's still an awful mess, even at 1080p, I go down as low as 22fps...
I deleted shader cache, still broken...
This game is just... a mess, I quit
Performance has deteriorated a lot since the last patch.
5600x 7900GRE
I quit the game on patch 2 and started on patch 7. The performance improvement was noticeable.

It is running far worse for me as well... I was okay with the mess in towns, but now it's everywhere even in the wild. Insane frametime fluctuations. Core i9 10900K and 7900XT.

Same problems here, GPU usage at around 20% with CPU at around 40% but it is tanking down to the 20s in Vernworth and even out in the wild it is jumping between 30 and 45fps, it has never performed like this until the patch this morning.

I confirm. I have about the same fps. So far it looks like only AMD cards are affected.

I wonder if the developers even know what they’ve done or if we won’t be able to play normally anymore. I would like to roll back the patch, but it seems impossible.
I just tested the game within the 2 h trial.
3060 Ti, 5700X, "stable" 35 to 45 FPS, no framedrops and stutters in Vernworth.
(4K, DLSS Ultra Performance, Raytracing activated, shadows high, 1 GB textures)

However, if I set resolution to Full HD and run into the CPU limit, I get only 50 to 60 FPS and a lot of stutters, unstable frametimes all the way.

I guess a 5600X is not allowing more than 40 to 50 FPS, but I also agree, that setting a FPS limit at 40 FPS or running constantly in GPU limit at 40 FPS and less is no solution.

Seems hat once you run into CPU limit, it's stuttering. :hardhat:

I am running a 4080 with 7800x3d w/ 32gb RAM. It was running almost flawlessly before the patch, now it stutters constantly in town and out in the wild when sprinting and turning the camera. I get the same degraded performance no matter the graphics settings.

This is really disappointing, now I feel like I don’t want to continue till it’s fixed, but who knows when that will be?

No, I don't think it's a problem with the processor. Now the processor is loaded at 36%, the video card is at 100%, and at the same time I get 45 fps in the forest, where before I always had more than 60 (I don’t remember exactly, but 100% is more than 60).

I'm not crazy and I remember how smoothly the game worked before this patch. In addition, the frametime has become jagged and it is completely impossible to play.

They obviously changed something and this something completely broke all the previous optimization.
