i recal one but it seemed extremely hard to get into and you needed twitch or something which i do not use or will I ever.

"Marbles on Stream" is likely the one you're thinking of. A good offline version of that is Marble World. Incredimarble is also a good 2D game with some Idle trappings (Your marbles make money as they go through the track, which you then use to buy more pieces or level-up your existing pieces to generate more money).

I was wondering about this because I like to build tracks, but I wanted to be able to spectate the races and commentate them for videos, similar to the "Marblelympics" YouTube channel, haha. I know this game has a good track editor, but I have no idea if you can do anything besides play on your custom tracks without buying the game!

At this point it's been long enough without a reply that I guess there's not that much interest, haha. I don't know anyone who has the game or else I'd just ask them lol

If you want to link the racers to your Twitch Community, you can try out "Stream Racer". It's completely free and is designed for streaming it on Twitch, where every viewer can start a car. The viewers can also boost their car twice in the race, and in Arcade mode they also can "strike" other cars. But you can't set up crowd races offline.
The only exception is the test run in the Track Editor, which is as intuitive as the one of HWU or Planet Coaster. But the cars used there look less interesting.
Just take a look at it - I have a lot of fun with it anyway.
