Fatal D3D ERROR (6) Bug?
I legit just bought this game a few hours ago. i got it all installed i load it up i get Fatal D3D Error. I then just try and troubleshoot it myself. i do manage to fix it but now the problem has appeared again when i got to the 1st merchent. I can play for like 5 mins then it hits me with the error. Any fixes for this or do i have to wait for capcom to push a patch note out for it.

SPECS:
RTX 3060
RYZEN 5 5600X
16GB 3200MHZ RAM

Yes, I can just lower the settings 4Head... but these RTX cards are capable of handling these things. Don't matter if it's 3060, 3070, 4090 or whatever card it is. If I can play Halo Infinite with ray tracing and stuff, why can't I play this?

TLDR: Turn Ray Tracing off... done.

The error usually happens when the GPU runs out of video memory(shouldn't crash the game, but it's optimization is crap since the demo). I'm getting the same error since the game updated yesterday(they broke the game).

I know your GPU is RT capable but it should be disabled in RE4 as enabling RT usually ends up in the Fatal D3D error or absolutely bad performance. Also, check out some specialists' videos on how to get the best visuals while keeping the best performance. Good luck.

I had the same thing when I had raytracing enabled (RTX 3080 card) and had over 7GB of VRAM usage (orange). So you may want to keep VRAM usage below 70% and RT disabled and everything should run fine.

I used to get this when raytracing was enabled, but now I can max the game with raytracing on and not get crashing. Except textures are at 2gb because with everything else maxed it can't go any higher on my 3070 due to 8gb VRAM. Sorry the patch didn't solve the problem for you, I thought it would have fixed it for everyone. Disabling raytracing is the fix.

Howdy, So i managed to fix my issue. i was using around 8gb of vram with settings and the issue would still happen. I turned down my settings a bit to where my vram was around 5-6gbs, it did fix the issue. iv had no problems so far and iv been playing alot.

rog strix 3070 ti oc here, i had too many crashes @start... My solution was to remove raytracing so the Vram On graphic setting not to be red

I could play RE2, RE3, and RE7 on high graphics levels and play just fine. I can barely play RE4 without slowing down the game. Using a scope makes things worse. I've lowered my graphics settings to under 4 GB, turned off dynamic shadows, lighting, and more. I still get D3D crashes that set me too far back I just stop playing for a few days. Very frustrating.

I put together brand new build and I also encounter this error. I have every possible setting on re4 turned as high as it will go. However, my v-ram is 15.17 GB / 22.84. A 4090 under normal circumstances, with a good port can easily handle the load. In fact, my frames rarely dip below 90fps with averages around 120fps. That's with two 1440p monitors. The reason for this build was to experience each new title in the highest possible fidelity as most enthusiast will do.

As I see it, patrons should not have to reduce the graphic settings in order to use a product as it was advertised, and settling for less is unacceptable. This is a Capcom problem and needs to be rectified with no compromise for any end-user. I plan to put the title down, and will assume my playthrough once the issue has been resolved by Capcom not myself.

Hello there, i think i come up with solution (at least in my case). I had windows update and driver update and then when i played re4 d3d fatal error pops up. After hours of investigation i realised that all games who run on dx12 crashes and also when i start these games my processor usage goes into stratosphere. Anyway somehow i found out that net.framework proccess doesnt work and i just turn it on. It solved my problem. Select Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features - turn windows features off and on - enable all netframework processes

The game basically does not have Ray Tracing support on PC at this time because they used an old model.

I don't think they ever plan to properly implement it.

Just turn it off, leave it off, and you will be fine.

I can't even turn it *on* and i get the same problem fml...
edit: should be noted that this is a new problem since the update. I played the story twice before that and haven't had this crash once. (lots of other crashes but updating drivers *mostly* fixed those. This port is horrible.)
