and still runs on my 2011 desktop with win 10.
perhaps check the qconsole.log in folder
c:\users\YourWIndowsLogin\saved games\machinegames\wolfenstein the neworder\base
check antivirus log? might be blocking game/game launcher.
check windows security/virus&threat/ransomware/controlled folder access.
if on add exceptions for game launcher/game.
or if you do not use/need the security feature, turn it off.
check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history.
might be a game crash event or system related problems.
windows comes with default security settings. neither steam nor the game installer nor the game make any changes nor bypass whatever antivirus, security settings, folder permissions, running programs you have on your system. up to YOU to manage all that for this game and any other game/app you install.
old game needs some old libraries. in the commonredist folder in the steam game folder, I see directx jun 2010 and vcredist c++ 2008 and 2010. check to see if steam installed them. if not, download from microsoft or find them in your steamworks shared folder. install with admin permission.
