I'd also love if color preferences carry over. So if I select what color I want a bedside table to be, the next bedside table I place is also the same color. It'd also be cool if I could save color pallets, or if there was a recently used color selection.
Overall, I love the game. This game condenses the home decorating parts of the Tenants or the Sims to leave the player with a chill and easy decorating simulation :)
- I found the paint mechanism very problematic to use. For example, the lower kitchen cabinets offered no option to paint, where as the upper cabinets let me paint the body but not the doors. Large items that seem like they should be paintable offered no option (huge espresso machine, microwave, toaster, etc.
- It is nearly impossible to click the walls (or most anything) and get an interaction option on the first click. Items usually take 2 to 3 clicks for me; walls can take up to 10 clicks.
- the paint color menu seems needlessly complex and confusing. Instead of having two nearly identical color choice panels, why not have the first one just be limited to the few choices of the color family (i.e., purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, black/white, etc.) and after clicking that then give a much broader menu with the range of colors in that family.
- there should be a quick option for one item to click to the same item, such as right click while dragging. God help you if you move one part of a counter, because it will never, ever, ever go back.
- I know that this is early access, but I am really hoping that more design options are on the table soon (like different furniture withing types, wall art, lights, etc.) One thing that really helped House Flipper was having a huge modding community providing these items that the game makers might not be inclined to.
- Along with the last point, I would really like to get more options for window coverings. Putting a wall-sized curtain on a tiny square window is just silly (I know, early access). So different sizes and styles of curtains, blinds and other options (for example, changing materials for curtains or blinds could create a huge range of options).
Also I find that when you have set up lights a certain colour with the light beams, hexagon and triangle lights and then leave and come back, they default back to white and you have to change all the colour again.
I agree above, more curtain options would be nice, like different designs of curtain, blinds.
Needs more keyboard shortcuts.
Great fun so far !
- Scale objects in one direction (a closet taller but not wider for example).
- Interior walls
- Glass walls for interior meeting rooms
- Disable window when it's in front other objets (you can't see the wall but the windows is an object floating in spotlight.
- More objects (for example there is only one portable computer and is only white, there is only one car...)
BUGS:
- I CAN'T COPY OBJECTS.
- Scale tiles number don't change when you do a small change
+1. The lack of this is driving me crazy actually.
suggestions for items to include:
- first aid kit
- wall hooks
- rolling shelf
- step trash can
- foot stool
- smaller, differently-shaped rugs/floor mats
- towel rack, hand towel
- indoor fence/gate
- tissue box
- corner shelf (triangular shaped)
- toothpaste
- tupperware
suggestions for details:
- more tile patterns and wallpaper patterns
- more image pattern options (geometric shapes, gradient, etc)
- multi-colored stripe pattern
- ability to close laptop
- customizable backpacks
suggestions for functions:
- easier way to access the different rotational/scaling menu thats not left-clicking the object then right clicking it
- country flags arranged alphabetically
- ability to select multiple objects as a group
- ability to lock attached objects together
- undo option includes "applying paint color" as an action
- option to save favorite/recently used colors
- More objects
- Set Fixed Camera views - useful to keep screenshots the same
- Strangely, the demo (when it was available) was a better tutorial than what the tutorial currently is, and I am only interested in the creator mode.
The tutorial is frustating.
(And it is not adapted to AZERTY keyboards or maybe I should have change the settings beforehand).
- The object menu must stay at the same level than before I placed an object).
- Maybe the ability to make a "comment", a "note" on an object to describe it further, or to describe a object than doesn't exist yet (but placing it now).
For me, adding more objects is more important than developing a story mode further.
I don't leave a review now, because it is really a game that I wished that existed, and permits to create more "cramped" environnements than the Sims (it is a good thing), and I want to use as a room designer tool because the professional ones are too unappealing, but in its state it is too early for giving a positive review, but it is too good to post a negative one.
To finish, I don't need this, and the game will be perfect without it and I feel it is really too much to ask; but a first person view with the possibility of moving inside, a "spectator mode" like in the some games will be the cherry on the cake to see if a room design can be fitting to what we desire.
