If the game is a stable time loop (Guests spread infection across the world, apocalypse happens, people in the future go through the Pool, turn into Guests, and set off the cycle again), then the possible destruction of the Pool by Crow's death might have put a stop to the cycle. Can't really know since too many things are left ambiguous or unanswered in favor of focusing on the gold laundering and Maya's identity as the main story points.
It does still tell people to not look too closely at the thread unless they don't mind spoilers.
