Every single walkthrough online ignores the boxes and uses a jump exploit and I was forced to do that too because there is no way to go back to the main hub once you enter the secret room.

I’m assuming you’re talking about this timestamp.

Put a mirror on top of the 1st box. Use the deep hole on the left to do reflection jumps until you can reach the very top box.
You will have to zig-zag (from right, left, and then right) to dodge the platforms. Depending on the height of your jumps,
it will take 2 to 3 “zig-zag-jumps” to make it to the top.

P.S. Putting the mirror on the box may not be necessary, but I did it for extra height.
You can also drop the 2nd box on top of the 1st for added effect, but setting this up takes longer than I prefer.

I ain't doing that. The one criticism I have for this otherwise amazing games is that some of the memento rooms are too difficult and require precision platforming, but puzzle platformers and precision platformers are two different genres and do not always have the same player base. I really struggled with those rooms to the point where it almost ruined the latter part of the game for me.
