Frequency and repetition of voice lines is enough to put me off from buying the full game.
Seriously, who thought it was a good idea for the game to allow the same voice line to be played back to back? Happened to me multiple times. The characters also generally just never shut up and are constantly talking. Please fix this for the full release.

Regarding the voice lines repeating back-to-back, I think what's happening is the conversation frequently gets restarted if it's interrupted at certain points/for long enough when you enter combat. I've noticed that sometimes the conversation will continue if I finish/leave combat quickly enough but it does often end up restarting from the beginning.

I do agree that the characters do talk much more frequently than necessary, and the number of conversations they have available is so limited it's easy to hear them all within a short amount of time and end up hearing them several times while running around aimlessly.

Same here, too much times the same lines with a way too short time before it repeat.
I turned off the voice volume
Some games do it right and this game didn't. I noticed it right away. I don't mind dialogue but they should have a timer or not repeat them again at all.

This. Typically, games will have triggers on the map where characters will start speaking when you reach them, but that dialogue will either only play once, or it will only repeat if you reload the map and trigger them again.

The problem in this demo is that there doesn't seem to be any limit to how many times these triggers can be activated so you can trigger the same dialogue over and over again within a few seconds of each other.

+1 unless they add an option to remove them or they took longer to happen, it's a no thanks for me
OH LORD IT'S ACTUALLY QUITE HORRIBLE!!! lol. Seriously.. i'm tired of hearing "Hmm. I'll keep it! It might be useful later." UUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHH
the dumb part is how during story segments they will say specific dialogues that are easily interrupted and not often repeated - you can miss story-related conversations entirely just by activating an ability at the wrong moment. you probably wont get to hear it again. but the generic conversations that you can get anywhere seem to be able to repeat infinitely!!! its totally backwards!
Yeah, conversations trigger far too liberally and repeat themselves far too often. Rao, what do humans eat? Rao, what do humans do for work. Rao, why do humans need water? People! You've had this conversation dozens of times. You had it not 5 minutes ago. Pick a different topic or shut up.

It's even worse in combat. There, NPC dialogue seems to trigger every time an enemy uses an ability, like the Alpha Raptor fire spit, or the Scorpion Queen burrow. I have my audio set to Japanese because the English voice actors just aren't very good. Good thing is I don't actually know what they're talking about if I'm not reading the subtitles, so it's easier to ignore. Bad thing is I can hear Rao yell "Ooji!" in my sleep now.
I play the Xenoblade series, this ♥♥♥♥ ain’t nothing to me man

Yes it's a bit much and probably the biggest issue with the game. The system in general is pretty neat because it often gives you lines triggered by external things, but hearing the same lines for the entirety of the game can start to grate on the nerves.
I found it to be manageable due to playing on Japanese dub. I just use the opportunity to practice my listening skills without looking at the translation. Or I just stop paying attention, then it becomes background chatter.

Story dialogue often gets restarted after whatever interrupted it stops - unless you trigger a cutscene or something.

I hear ya, but it's still an issue. Same thing with the tales series. l

I was actually wondering if the game had a JP voice option and found your comment. Thank you for confirming this.

It does, yes - and I'd argue it's far better than the English dub. I'm not a sub/dub purist by any stretch, but the English voice actors feel rather... inexperienced, let's say.
