good game but it takes to much of your time so I don't recommend it.

After buying and spending hours playing the game, during a "forced" auto sail travel between islands, the game RESETS! What a WASTE of time. DO NOT BUY.

One of my favourite of the survival genre, this is the game that Green Hell and Raft should have been.

The Good:
Good survival mechanics that are challenging but fair.
Story-driven. The story is straightforward but good enough to compel you through the game.
Story islands are unique and well-designed and compliment the primary crafting/upgrade mechanics, rather than sit separate to them (like in Raft).
You can't just walk from story beat to story beat (like Green Hell) - you have to engage in the building and upgrade mechanics.

The Bad:
Poison is so annoying, I hate snakes.

The controversial (YMMV):
Base building is too resource intensive to be worth building anything more than the most basic structures. If you're looking for grounded-style mansion building, you won't find it here without serious grinding.
The timed crafting mechanics (meaning you gain hunger/thirst as you work the main point of contention in many reviews) take some getting used to, although I think it works well, meaning that crafting has a cost and rewards efficient planning of crafting/building.

I did a review for the demo and my thoughts still are about the same. It's a game that will test your mettle constantly. You have to exude efficiency and make good desisions in your planning or you will struggle but the rewards are well worth it. After you get a good base and food and water are almost passive, the exploration aspect is nothing short of incredible. Nothing against other survival games I've played recently, having only given them a try after decades of RPG. I feel as if they were a great set of stepping stones to this masterpiece of storyline driven game with a kick your butt survive or die aspect, and I'm only playing tourist mode lol. 62 hours in and I see a lot of content not even touched upon yet and I am all in for the rest! Don't hesitate to play this gem!

In 40 years of gaming, there have only been a few games that truly made me say "this is great!" Bethesda has done a great job with this with the Elder Scrolls saga, as well as Fall Out, and Prey. Outside of Bethesda, FF7 (the game that actually got me gaming), as well as The Secret World (logged more hours on that than any other game); if you haven't tried The Secret World you should. Odinsoft presents the potential to be the next Bethesda in my opinion and could take the "Survival: XYZ: " to the next level. I would love to see this engine & format with other historical times.
