TL;DR: Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a beautiful, heartfelt adventure with rewarding gameplay, stunning visuals, and one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a game. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys story-driven experiences. But I’d suggest playing with mouse and keyboard instead of a controller.

The story is touching and engaging, with characters that feel surprisingly relatable (especially Toshi - the chief of the village). Each spirit’s journey was written with care - tragic and emotional, yet always leaving a glimmer of hope as grief fades away. These moments hit hard and left me deeply moved. The climax of the story with memories and emotions of Toshi being shown was a masterpiece.

Gameplay is straightforward but satisfying. Exploration feels smooth, and combat offers just enough depth to keep things engaging. While I wasn’t a fan of a couple boss designs, fights overall were exciting, with a nice variety of skills that let you adapt your playstyle to each encounter.

Visually, the game is top-tier. Every location feels alive and cohesive, with incredible attention to detail. The world has a genuine soul, and exploring it was a joy.

The soundtrack deserves special mention - easily a 10/10. The music elevates every scene, pulling you deeper into the world and enhancing the emotional weight of the story.

My only real gripe is with the controller experience. Auto-lock was inconsistent and sometimes frustrating, and I often had issues with the camera moving on its own or my character dodging in the wrong direction. Playing with mouse and keyboard would have solved these problems.

Overall: Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a memorable, story-rich adventure with breathtaking visuals and music that stays with you long after you stop playing. Absolutely worth experiencing.

It simply didn't work in terms of Souls-like hook. The combat is too primitive/boring for Souls-like, and the story is too jolly and flat. Not to mention how horrible the PC-port is so good luck playing with KBM if you prefer that.

Really wanted to like it, but couldn't keep playing after 4 hours.

Refreshingly straight forward, mechanically rewarding, and entirely life affirming. In a market where games are prone to drag it out. Turning something initially very entertaining into something painfully monotonous. This is a game that refuses to get bogged down in filler, and changes the formula often enough to be engaging. What you have here is an action adventure. Strong on platform elements, environmental puzzles, and boss fights.

What you don't have here is a terribly long game. Which is fine if you want the change of pace, and you have a taste for something saccharine, but if you're looking for a return on investment time wise. This game will take most between ten to twenty hours. Unless you are a masochist who will replay on a higher difficulty. For most this is one that needs to be on sale to justify a purchase.

Its incredibly unfortunate that there are not MORE of these games, or even indie games in this style. It is beautiful, the combat is actually pretty challenging, and I am super engrossed in the story. I wish there were more games like this, I would absolutely play them to death.

Such a cute and fun indie game. Had a great time during my play-through. Great story and fun combat no real complaints here.

This is the most beautiful game, great story line, magnificent scenes... Some of the combat scenes are TOUGH even on the easier setting but would be challenging for most on the harder levels if they like difficult combat and boss battles. The rots are adorable, music is pleasant, good tutorials when needed... The load time is FAST and saves are good as you don't have to go back over and over if you fail... I think it is a near perfect game.
