Mage and Monsters is what happens when a retro RPG, an auto-battler, and a bag of dopamine get tossed into a pixel blender. For $3.99? It’s a no-brainer.

The loop is simple but addictive: build a wild army, sling spells mid-fight, and pray your upgrades don’t troll you. Every run feels like a tiny strategy puzzle with just enough chaos to keep it fresh. It’s fast, it’s fun, and perfect for Steam Deck sessions or short bursts between meetings.

Yeah, the content’s light (only 2 maps, meta hits a wall), but it owns its scope—and nails it. Don’t expect endless depth. Do expect to lose track of time.
